Beast of the Night: David Lee posted 29 points, 20 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block last night. He shot 77 percent (13-17) from the field, 100 percent (3-3) from the foul line and had four turnovers. This was the kind of line many fantasy owners expected to see from Lee this season, but he fell short of expectations, thanks in part to Wilson Chandler’s tooth. In the past month, however, Lee has averaged top-12 numbers. He shouldn’t be forgotten on draft day next fall. Read More »

Beast of the Night: Kevin Durant finished with 39 points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and three three-pointers last night. He shot 57 percent (13-23) from the field, 83 percent (10-12) from the charity stripe and had two turnovers. Is it possible to have a quiet season while putting up No. 1 averages throughout an NBA season? Yep. Though he hasn’t drawn nearly as much attention as he did last season, KD has met the high expectations most owners had for him heading into this season. Read More »

The bracket is out, let the hysteria begin. It seems like everyone around the country is amped about the Big Dance this year. Who wouldn’t be? With the tournament as wide open as it is, it really could be anybody’s year. (I’m looking at you, Long Beach State.) With many NBAers having their respective alma maters back in the tourney, we thought it’d be dope to get their insight into this year’s madness. With that, we caught up with David Lee, Anthony Morrow and Sundiata Gaines to discuss some bracketology. Read More »

Whether it’s accurate or not, you often hear Kevin Garnett being referred to as a bully. Well, last night the Boston Celtics did what bullies do – they humiliated a weaker, defenseless opponent. The Milwaukee Bucks experienced the equivalent of having their lunch money taken and then stuffed in a locker as Boston held them to just 56 points – a record low for the shot clock era (Boston scored 87). It was an absolute defensive clinic by the Celtics who just imposed their will on the Bucks. “That’s about as humiliating a defeat as you’ll ever see,” a disgusted Scott Skiles said after the game. “They got us on our heels and took our competitive fight away from us. We pretty much just gave into it.” … How bad was it for the Bucks? Earl Barron (10 points) was the only Milwaukee player who finished in double figures. John Salmons, who seems to exist only to put the ball in the hoop, failed to record a single point … Read More »

Beast of the Night: Kyle Lowry finished with 24 points, four rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers. He shot 47 percent (9-19) from the field, 60 percent (3-5) from the charity stripe and had no turnovers. This was nearly identical to his line on March 1. Lowry has been a big help to his fantasy owners all season long and should finish the season with top-50 value. Read More »

Weekend Wonder: LaMarcus Aldridge averaged 36.5 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists, two steals and 1.5 blocks in two games over the weekend. He shot 62 percent from the field, 84 percent from the line and averaged 2.5 turnovers. Aldridge has been on a tear lately and is posting top-five averages in the last month. His owners have to hope that things don’t change too much once Marcus Camby returns later this week. Read More »

No matter what jersey LeBron is wearing, Rajon Rondo sees only red whenever LBJ is on his court. In his last seven games in Boston against LeBron’s teams, Rondo has averaged 16.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 12.1 assists and 1.8 steals — including that 17-dime Opening Night performance, and that ridiculous 29-point, 18-board, 13-dime triple-dip in last year’s playoffs. Yesterday, Rondo went for 11 points, 10 boards and 10 assists while taking over the third quarter and hounding LeBron defensively during key stretches to keep the Celtics undefeated against this version of the Heat … Read More »

It appears Carmelo Anthony isn’t the only player on Denver that teams are interested in. According to Marcus Thompson II of the Oakland Tribune, the Warriors (who play the Nuggets tonight) have inquired about Nene to help get some scoring from their frontline that currently consists of David Lee, Andris Biedrins and Brandan Wright. Weekend Wonder: Elton Brand posted averages of 30.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, one assist and two steals and two blocks in two games over the weekend. He shot 65 percent from the field, 87 percent from the charity stripe and one turnover during that stretch. Brand is off to a great start in February and has been a top-30 surprise so far this season. He’s quietly fulfilling the “comeback” tags many placed on him heading into 2010-11. Read More »
