Among the things we loved most about the World Cup were the unique replays and camera angles offered by the FIBA broadcast team. We were privy to awesome views of the games in Spain to which we simply aren’t accustomed from NBA action, and it made the rare August-September basketball even better than we were anticipating. Though Team USA took down upstart Serbia in the gold medal game yesterday and officially ended the tournament in the process, the FIBA experience was far from over for fans. Read More »

Team USA Roster, Rotation Might Be Taking Shape (UPDATE)

Team USA

The withdrawals of presumptive Team USA locks Kevin Love and Blake Griffin from the 2014 FIBA World Cup were one thing. Coach Mike Krzyzewski has always preferred to utilize a nominal, athletic power forward in the Carmelo Anthony mold as opposed to more traditional big men alongside a true center, which is why the absences of Paul George and Kevin Durant loom so large. USA Basketball’s best available options to play that crucial role are gone, and the country’s most logical if less optimal replacements – Love and Griffin – never came. Read More »

DeMar DeRozan Hones His Handle At Wal-Mart

DeMar DeRozan

Basketball never stops in the NBA. The draft and free agency combine to make the scheduled offseason seem like anything but, and players have summer commitments to national teams, pro-ams, camps, endorsers, and more in addition to needing rest before the grind begins again in the fall. That can leave little time for individual training, and DeMar DeRozan is making sure he gets his work in whenever he can. Read More »

The 5 Best Backcourts In The NBA Playoffs

Deron Williams, Joe Johnson

The NBA kingdom is being conquered by the one-two punch of the point guard and shooting guard combo. Long gone are the days of Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon and Shaquille O’Neal banging away in the paint. The Memphis Grizzlies “grindhouse” style of basketball is the closest image of the days where the big men ruled the hardwood and people just refer to that style as “boring” in today’s game.
