Video: DeMarre Carroll Badly Burns Jrue Holiday Going Behind-The-Back

DeMarre Carroll, John Salmons, Anthony Davis

We love us some DeMarre Carroll. One of the best bargains in the NBA has been playing really well while flying under the radar for the Hawks, and he showed off his improved handle by faking Jrue Holiday out of his uniform during Atlanta’s 100-91 win over the Pelicans Friday night to snap a three-game losing streak. The 25 Biggest Bargains In The NBA

Jimmy Butler

Like all pro leagues, the NBA is a game of dollars. In this career, the tenure is short; many NBA players won’t see 10 years in the industry. Even the league’s top crop may only see 15 to 20 years of service.

So this is where it gets tricky; how do you get an individual who has a limited career window to take less money than he’s worth? If the player is a veteran who has bought into the system and city, maybe he will take less money to help the team. Clearly that’s not Kobe Bryant. Players on rookie deals don’t have any choice in the matter and always provide teams with some flexibility. Maybe the player has an injury history, or off-court disciplinary problem that lowers his market value. Read More »

How To Fix The Chicago Bulls: Amnesty Carlos Boozer & Search For Shooters

Carlos Boozer (photo. Jeffery Salter)

With only three teams remaining in the NBA Playoffs, it means a few “contenders” have already been eliminated from title contention. The offseason is the time for these teams to retool to prepare for deeper runs next season. The Chicago Bulls had a season that defied almost everyone’s expectations — everyone outside of the Bulls organization that is. The Bulls were dealt a crushing blow in last year’s playoffs after losing star point guard Derrick Rose in the first game of the first round. Read More »

Video: Utah Had One Of The Best End-To-End Plays You’ll Ever See Last Night

Enes Kanter

Enes Kanter might be known more for his crazy summer weight loss, or for his apparent appetite for cheerleaders, but hopefully more than a handful of people caught this play last night. You won’t often see a block at the rim turn into an alley-oop on the other end with the ball almost never touching the floor (damn you Jamaal Tinsley for that useless dribble). Read More »

The Grizzlies’ Matchup Nightmare Blows Up The Knicks; Portland’s Duo Outshines James Harden

Zach Randolph (photo. Nike)

One day after New York stayed as the NBA’s last unbeaten team by being selfless and smart (and ridiculously accurate from range), Memphis usurped the Knicks as the NBA’s best team right now by luring them in, then springing the trap. Start spreading the news: Memphis, owner of a seven-game win streak, is mowing down the league’s best teams like the hero of a Tarantino film. Just 10 percent of the season in the Griz are 7-1, but it’s still apt to be cautious about being too effusive with praise. Still, how can anyone deny these signature wins the Griz have just rattled off in their last three games: an 18-point win over Miami, a 10-point win in Oklahoma City and Friday night’s 105-95 win over New York that wasn’t as close as the score looks. How Trading Pau Gasol Turned The Memphis Grizzlies Into Contenders

Rudy Gay

On Feb. 1, 2008, Michael Heisley, the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies, and Chris Wallace, the team’s general manager, were the two most vilified men in the NBA. They had just traded Pau Gasol to the Lakers in a move that was seen as one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history. They turned the Lakers into instant championship contenders, while getting pennies on the dollar in return. The package they got included Javaris Crittenton (now out of the League), Kwame Brown, a practically retired Aaron McKie, two late first-round picks, and the rights to Pau’s brother, Marc Gasol.
