I’ll be honest with you. I’m waiting on Tyson Chandler to not live up to this new contract. It seems inevitable: big man who has career year at 29 years old, finds himself in a perfect situation, plays great D and rebounds but has it magnified because his team finally got through the West and won a title (seriously, if Dallas loses in the Western playoffs, is anyone talking about how great Chandler is right now?). Take it for face value: a 29-year-old, injury prone big man who’s coming off BY FAR the best year of his career, a guy who’s been incredibly up and down throughout his career was just given $56 million to come save the defense in the world’s most crazed media market. ‘Tis the season, right? First word broke this morning that Boston would be open to trading Rajon Rondo in the right deal, while chatter in Utah is now saying that the Jazz are willing to do the same with Paul Millsap. Read More »

It’s not just us, and it’s not just you. It’s everyone. Everyone is sick of charity games, of celebrity games and nights ending up 170-168. It was cool for a while. That got us through the summer of no basketball, trade rumors or signings: “Capital Punishment,” “The Big Payback,” and all the rest. But Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams are promising something different. Seattle and Atlanta are two consistently overlooked hoop hotbeds. But now we’ll have the chance to see which city is better. Expect it to be heated. Expect it to be real. Read More »
While it seemed all eyes were on the charity games hosted by Matt Barnes (San Jose) and LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland) this weekend, there was another game going on as well. Case in point: Damien Wilkins‘ Monster Slam went down on Saturday at Clark Atlanta University, and players like Shannon Brown, Jeff Green, Lou Williams, Derrick Favors, Jordan Crawford, and Jarrett Jack put in work.
The Utah Jazz are a frontcourt-heavy team. They have about 3-4 big men capable of producing usable numbers if given sufficient minutes, which means that unless a trade happens to free things up there, some frustrating minutes-based limitations are in the cards. That said, the Jazz have a nice balance of productive veterans and up-and-coming players ready to make an impact on fantasy basketball whenever the NBA starts again. Read More »
After leading Washington to back-to-back conference titles in the Pac-10 Tournament over the last two seasons, junior Isaiah Thomas (who also claimed back-to-back conference MOP honors in those same title runs) decided the time was right to test his talents on another level: the NBA. During his time in Seattle, the 5-9 guard was nothing short of an offensive force. After averaging 16.9 points and 3.9 assists a game as a sophomore, he returned this season to drop 16.8 and 6.1 per and navigate UW to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament. And as the kid embarks on his journey away from college and into the pros, we wanted to give him his own space, and voice, to roam. So, follow along with Isaiah on his Dime NBA Draft Diary and the start to his journey as a member of the Sacramento Kings…Read More »
We’ve been showing you highlights from Pro-Ams and summer leagues around the country, but have you seen any of the action taking place in the ATL? The nation’s best ballers that spend their offseason in Hotlanta take their talents to the Wallace Prather Jr. Pro-Am, a group that includes Josh Smith, Lou Williams, Derrick Favors, Jarrett Jack and Damien Wilkins. See what went down…
When I first found out that all the NBA Summer Leagues were cancelled due to the lockout, I was initially devastated. Although the news was disappointing at first, once summer Pro-Ams kicked off, my complaints went down the drain. NBA players have always made appearances in Pro-Ams and summer leagues across the country, however this summer has definitely been one to remember. Since there’s no Vegas, Orlando or Rocky Mountain league to keep players tied up this summer, and they can’t workout with their teams, what else are NBA stars supposed to do to stay in shape besides get busy?
