Video: Brandon Jennings Ignores Open Layup To Miss Mid-Range Jumper

Brandon Jennings

This is the Pistons in a nutshell. During Detroit’s 117-106 loss to the high-octane offense of the Mavericks, Brandon Jennings made an excellent back-cut to the rim and was awarded with a wide-open layup. As you’ll see, the Pistons point passed up on the open look at the rim to then shoot a mid-range jumper; it rattled out. Read More »

Charlie Villanueva Talks Marriage Proposal, UCONN Title & More In Google Chat

Charlie Villanueva

Last Friday, we were invited to SportsBlog.com’s Hanging with the Pro’s which featured current Dallas Maverick and former member of the 2004 UConn Huskie National Championship team, Charlie Villanueva. There was no guided direction for the conversation as many topics were reached, such as the state of the NCAA and Big East, Villanueva’s UConn days, his marriage proposal and his opinion on Adam Silver. It was an inside and uncut look at how an NBA player views a variety of topics, without a swarm of media surrounding him. Read More »

DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin had 18 points and seven rebounds, and DeAndre Jordan had a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds as the Clippers bigs largely outplayed Detroit’s three-headed monster in the front-court during a 113-91 win in LA Monday night. A simple high screen by Blake even led to this sizzling lob for the DJ jam. Read More »

Ibaka Rejects Drummond & Wags The Finger; Later Drummond Posterizes Ibaka

Serge Ibaka, Andre Drummond

This was a story of hubris, reprisal and the ultimate futility of one-on-one battles in a game of five players per side. In the third quarter of last night’s Thunder-Pistons battle, Serge Ibaka rejected an Andre Drummond dunk attempt by swatting it against the backboard. He then turned towards the crowd — not towards Drummond, since that would immediately earn him a technical for taunting — and wagged his finger like Dikembe Mutombo. As you’ll see, the Gods of basketball would grant Drummond a chance to respond to Ibaka’s supercilious display. Read More »

Video: Jabari Parker Jams It On Josh Smith

Jabari Parker, Josh Smith

Giannis Antetokounmpo was only 1-of-13 from the field last night against Detroit for just two points in over 30 minutes of action. But he did find time to set up Jabari Parker for this jam on Josh Smith. J Smoove wasn’t able to duplicate his teammate’s rejection in the same contest. Read More »

Video: Andre Drummond Rejects Jabari Parker Then Catches Alley-Oop Slam

Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond did his part to end Detroit’s losing streak last night, connecting on 11-of-15 field goal attempts for a team-high 23 points along with 10 rebounds. He also had two blocks. One sequence had him denying Jabari Parker on one end then catching a Josh Smith lob on the other end. Read More »

Brandon Jennings Says The Brick-Heavy Pistons “Don’t Shoot In Practice”

Brandon Jennings

Only the godawful 76ers are shooting worse than the Pistons. Detroit’s second to last in true shooting percentage AND effective field goal percentage behind the Philly D-League squad, so it’s no wonder point guard Brandon Jennings is a little ticked off they can’t seem to find time in practice or shootarounds to get some shots up in an effort to alleviate all the bricks they’ve been shooting this season. Van Gundy Says Markieff Morris Lacks Playoff Credentials To Talk Smack

Stan Van Gundy

Things could be worse for the 3-9 Detroit Pistons – at least coaches and players are standing up for each other. After the Phoenix Suns’ Markieff Morris saying Kentavious Caldwell-Pope missed a game-winning shot because he “doesn’t have any heart,” Stan Van Gundy fired back by questioning Morris’ trash-talking credentials. Stan Van Gundy Benches Josh Smith After “Jawing Session” About Defense

Stan Van Gundy

It wasn’t just Markieff Morris and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who got into it last night during the Suns-Pistons game. It seems Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy and forward Josh Smith had a verbal altercation when J Smoove was subbed out with a few minutes left in the third quarter. He did not return in the 88-86 Suns win. Read More »

Markieff Morris Says Caldwell-Pope Missed The Game-Winner Because “He Doesn’t Have Any Heart”

Markieff Morris, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

It started when Markieff Morris and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope got into a face-to-face jawing match midway through the second quarter of last night’s Suns-Pistons game. It ended when Caldwell-Pope missed what would have been a game-winning three-pointer with a second left on the clock and Morris claimed afterwards he wasn’t worried about Caldwell-Pope’s open look because “he doesn’t have any heart.” Read More »
