NBA Free Agency Roundup

Al Thornton

Of the Top 5 Available NBA Free Agents I wrote about on Tuesday, Mike Bibby is the only one to officially ink a deal. But that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been progress as to where they, and others, are headed for the rest of the season. Here’s what we know: Read More »

Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ Agent: “Still Working On The Buyout”

Zydrunas Ilgauskas

After Zydrunas Ilgauskas was shipped to Washington in the deal that brought back Antawn Jamison in return, most people assumed that Big Z would never play a game for the Wizards. Whether he’d return to Cleveland after the mandatory 30-day waiting period, or sign with a contender such as Dallas or Atlanta, before either of these could take place a buyout needed to happen. But after shipping Dominic McGuire and cash to Sacramento for a 2010 second-round pick, the Wizards slid comfortably under the tax line without having to negotiate a buyout with Ilgauskas. Nonetheless, Ilgauskas’ agent, Herb Rudoy, is confident a deal will get done in the next couple of days. Read More »

The Wizards Could Win The Championship This Year

Gilbert Arenas, Dime #29

Before you skip the article and head directly to the comments to destroy me, just hear me out. And for fans of the Celtics, Cavs and Magic, it’s not that you don’t think it’s possible, but rather that the thought of the Wizards beating you in the second round of the playoffs makes you sick. NBA Trade Rumor: Jason Terry or Josh Howard to Wizards for 5th Pick

Jason Terry

“That’s where I stand,” Caron Butler told Michael Lee of the Washington Post on April 9, 2009. “If it’s not Blake Griffin or somebody that can make an immediate impact, then I would prefer having a veteran come in to help us. The time is now.”

With the fifth pick in this month’s draft, it’s not going to be Blake Griffin for Washington. But there’s a chance that the Mavericks might make Butler’s wishes come true. They’re said to be so enamored with Arizona’s 6-10 PF Jordan Hill that they’d include either Jason Terry or Josh Howard in a trade to secure Hill’s services. Read More »
