The Young And The Restless

Ron Artest

Rumors of Ron Artest playing in the UK were met with skepticism. The league he’s aiming for is probably the worst in all of Europe, and the team doesn’t even have the money to satisfy Artest. But now officials with the team he is signing with, the Cheshire Jets, are offering to help Artest with his career off the court. There is even talk of getting the Tru Warier onto a soap opera, where he could show how young and restless he really is. Can someone please make this happen? Artest could definitely play the overbearing boyfriend who butts heads with a rival over a lover and overdramatizes every scene … Read More »

D.C. Summer Leagues Making A Name For Hoops In The District

Ty Lawson

Last we told you about the Goodman Coalition, it was a new spinoff of the legendary Goodman League and close to starting. Now, nearly a month into the indoor league, the number of players that have stopped by and played could fill an NBA roster. Goodman fixture Kevin Durant has played, but so has John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Greivis Vasquez, Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, Gary Neal and Donte Greene. Read More »

The Game Of The Summer: Goodman League vs. Drew League

Kevin Durant

Each summer the Goodman League in Washington, D.C. hosts NBA stars and streetball legends as one of the most well-known summer leagues in the country. Across the United States in Los Angeles, the Drew League does virtually the same. From Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins in D.C. to DeMar DeRozan and James Harden in L.A., the leagues have been the talk of the summer. So when Durant put on another show, but this time in the Drew League and not the Goodman League last month, he raised a question: Which league is better? Read More »

Kevin Durant Starts The Summer Off Right At The Goodman League

Kevin Durant

Miles Rawls says he never knows what to expect each summer at the Goodman League at Washington, D.C.’s legendary Barry Farms. Rawls, who runs the league, doesn’t know who’s going to come down and play. But every year there’s at least one person who he can always count on – Kevin Durant. Read More »

DeMarcus Cousins vs. Andrew Bynum: One pick to build a team

Andrew Bynum

Since professional wrestlers are really the only athletes who go stomping off into the sunset, I’m guessing DeMarcus Cousins will be back with the Sacramento Kings soon enough.

On Saturday night, Cousins watched as teammate Tyreke Evans missed a potential game-winning three at the buzzer against Oklahoma City, then threw a tempter tantrum that carried him across the court and into the Kings locker room, where he reportedly got into a fight with Donte Greene for not passing him the ball on the decisive play. Lakers survive test from familiar nemesis; Celtics tested in Cali

Kobe Bryant

Every legit NBA title contender this season seems to have that one Lottery-bound team that poses problems for them. For the Celtics, it has been Detroit. For the Spurs, it’s been Minnesota. For the Heat, it’s been Indiana. The Lakers? They’ve been having a tough time with the Rockets for the last couple of years now, Yao or no Yao. Last night’s matchup was another nail-biter … It’s easy to see why the Rockets are a bad matchup for the defending champs. Read More »

Josh Smith, Blake Griffin dunk all over the Turkey Day competition

Josh Smith

Unlike Christmas Day and its superstar-overload schedule, the NBA picked Thanksgiving weekend to give some of the lesser-knowns some shine, with a national TV schedule only an NBA League Pass connoisseur could fully appreciate. Last night you (hopefully) awoke from your turkey-induced coma to catch Hawks/Wizards and Clippers/Kings, and tonight it’s Rockets/Bobcats and Warriors/Grizzlies … Down in Atlanta, John Wall and Gilbert Arenas’ first real game as a starting backcourt was one to forget. Celtics officially on losing skid; Lakers officially doing work

Kevin Garnett

The Boston Celtics must’ve had the same Blake Griffin hangover that everyone else did yesterday afternoon, because the Raptors made them look just a tad too green defensively with an inspired performance. After uncharacteristically giving up 61 first-half points to an undermanned Toronto team — still waiting on Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless to suit up — Boston lost their second straight game … Nate Robinson, who was starting for an injured Rajon Rondo, scored 16 of his 22 points in the first quarter as Boston led by double-digits early. But then Andrea Bargnani (29 pts) went about the task of shooting Kevin Garnett‘s face off. Read More »
