Was it an offensive foul? Probably. Instead, Kevin Garnett got whistled for the foul despite getting kneed in the man parts, and Dwyane Wade converted a three-point play, the biggest play in overtime of Miami’s crazy 115-111 win. He helped make up for the fact that he made two poor plays near the end of regulation, which when coupled with LeBron James (34 points, 10 rebounds, seven dimes) missing two potential game-winners, forced overtime. The Heat needed all the help they could get (Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers, the refs) because Rajon Rondo played the single greatest game of his life (He also got screwed on a rather obviously call down the stretch). He had 44 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists and played every second. Read More »

Kobe who? If you would’ve told us that Bryant was going to sit out a game in San Antonio against the red hot Spurs, we would’ve said Gregg Popovich would’ve been pulling out the victory cigars early in the fourth quarter. You can’t fault us though because no one, repeat NO ONE, could’ve expected Andrew Bynum to set an NBA season high and in the process nearly outrebound San Antonio by himself: 33 to 30. The big man also chipped in 16 points, and with Pau Gasol putting in a quiet 21 and 11, the Lakers completed dominated inside in their blowout win. Read More »

Being a rookie in the NBA is hard enough; the speed, the travel, the lifestyle, the general nuances of the game can make life difficult for anyone. For the Celtics Greg Steimsma, he not only has to deal with all of that, but he also has guys running off the bench swiping at him when he has the ball.
Nothing went right for the Orlando Magic‘s debacle in Boston last night, but at least this added a little levity. Realizing that his team only had four players on the floor, Jason Richardson jumped off the bench to get into defense for the Magic. Read More »

In the fourth quarter in South Beach last night, Tracy McGrady outplayed even LeBron James. We shouldn’t have to remind anyone it’s 2012 and not 2003. But watching T-Mac bang threes (he hit a trio of big ones in the fourth quarter), grab rebounds in traffic and close out the Heat for their first loss of the season, we caught a serious case of deja vu. Miami, after looking invincible at times through their first five games, controlled the game throughout the first three quarters. But with McGrady (16 points, seven rebounds, four assists) turning back the clock, Dwyane Wade (12 points, 10 assists) scoring only three points in the second half, and Atlanta shutting down the fast break with a zone defense, the Hawks walked out with a 100-92 win.
