The Game Plan For The Phoenix Suns: Go Big Or Go Home

Hakim Warrick

Three years after Mike D’Antoni left Phoenix for New York, his run-and-gun style still influences Phoenix’s style under Alvin Gentry. And with two-time MVP Steve Nash still running the point, it’s easy to think of the Suns as a guard’s playground.

But as the Suns open their preseason tonight against Denver ahead of Monday’s season opener at home against New Orleans, the intrigue around Phoenix centers around its emerging frontcourt depth. Read More »

NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Phoenix Suns

Steve Nash

The Phoenix Suns remain an offensive machine in the NBA, which makes the squad likable for fantasy purposes. However, with the face of the franchise is slipping into the sunset as he approaches the deep end of his 30s, it’s time for the emergence of new stars in Arizona. A certain hammer of Polish origin will lead the way for this new movement in Phoenix. Read More »

Charles Barkley Says The Players Should Expect Changes

Lou Williams

After recently saying this lockout is a direct cause of all the NBA’s stars running to team up in major markets, Charles Barkley also sat down with azcentral.com to talk hoops and the current lockout. When asked about his thoughts on the owners and NBA commissioner David Stern, Barkley said that Stern was the best commissioner in sports and would do whatever is best for the small market teams. In regards to Amar’e and ‘Melo’s statements about starting their own league, Barkley said that it was one of the stupidest things he’s ever heard. Right up there with New Coke. Read More »

Team Philly To Test Their ‘Summer League Crown’ vs. Kevin Durant, John Wall & Washington, D.C.

Tyreke Evans

After Philadelphia’s NBA All-Stars held it down in their home city and beat an All-Star squad that included LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, Hakim Warrick declared they were the “champs” of the summer league circuit. But I think most people had to take that with a grain of salt. The originators of all of this is Washington, D.C. and their Goodman League team. They beat the Drew League, and everyone else for most of the summer. So it was only fitting that we would get a clash of the titans. Read More »

Philly Stands Up to LeBron, Carmelo and Chris Paul; Preview the Next Dream Team

Baron Davis

According to The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Baron Davis is “eager” to start working with No. 1 overall pick Kyrie Irving. Davis told the Plain Dealer that Kyrie is immensely talented, creative, smart and has so much potential. He went on to say that they’ve discussed Cleveland, life as an NBA point guard and head coach Byron Scott. Pretty interesting comments from the former UCLA point guard. We’re not saying we’re “surprised” by Baron’s comments, just a little… taken back. Read More »

A Call To All NBA Players: The Dos And Don’ts Of The Lockout

Gilbert Arenas

To: Confused NBA players From: A concerned onlooker

I know, this lockout has given you a whole new outlook on life. Options are aplenty and without a job, you might be a bit uneasy about not having a set schedule and all. I realize you might lack direction when you wake up each day. Free time might be good, especially since you’ve been busting your butt for the last few years, but that free time also opens the possibilities of picking up bad habits. Read More »

Vince Carter On UNC: “Hopefully We Can Get To That Final Four”

Vince Carter

This past weekend, the Phoenix Suns came into L.A. looking to capitalize on a pair of games against the city’s two hometown franchises. While the Lakers would hand them a crushing 3OT loss this past Tuesday, two days earlier, the Suns were busy mopping up the Blakers for a nice 108-99 win at Staples Center. This was also the same Sunday that both Duke and North Carolina were fortunate enough to escape serious second-round upset bids from both Michigan and Washington, respectively. After the Suns’ victory over the Clippers, we were able to catch up with one of Tobacco Road’s most famed alums, Vince Carter, to get his take on the NCAA Tournament thus far. Read More »

Top 5 Best Sweet 16 Games Of The Decade

Carmelo Anthony

This is where it starts to really get good. The Sweet 16. It’s just a moniker, but it means so much more. You make the Sweet 16 and jobs are safe, at least for the most part. You make the Sweet 16 and the program is satisfied. The ones who aren’t satisfied? They win titles.

With four games tipping off tonight (why we have all day and yet the games are overlapping, that’s a whole other topic, but don’t even get me started…), take a look back at some of the best Sweet 16 games of the decade. Hopefully, maybe one of the games tonight will find its way onto this list next year. Read More »
