The Big Three had the night off Tuesday (as did Mike Sweetney, so maybe that’s like The Big Five), leaving Rajon Rondo and Rasheed Wallace to carry the load in the Celtics’ win over the Nets. ‘Sheed posted 20 points and nine boards before tweaking his ankle in the third quarter, taking turns shooting Yi Jianlian’s face off and beasting Ed Najera in the post; Rondo had 18 points and 13 dimes and took over in the fourth quarter. Big Baby helped seal the W by showing some vertical and swatting Courtney Lee on one of NJ’s last possessions, then getting a key offensive board on a Rondo missed FT in the final seconds. In his introductory presser with the Orlando media, Matt Barnes answered the biggest question we’ve had about the Magic given the events of their offseason. Barnes said Stan Van Gundy told him that he’ll be competing for a starting job with Mickael Pietrus, with the rest of the first five filled out by Jameer Nelson, Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis and Dwight Howard. It is being reported that free agent Hakim Warrick has signed a 1-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Warrick, a 6-9 forward with tons of athleticism and potential has put together a decent, but relatively disappointing NBA career so far. He averaged 11 points and five boards for the Grizzlies last season, playing in all 82 games. Warrick was reportedly talking with the Cavs, Bobcats and hometown Sixers before settling on the Bucks.
