If you’ve managed to miss the relentless flood of commercials — they were even on the ring posts during the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley fight — you might not know that Iron Man 2 hits movie theaters nationwide today. (Seriously, the ads are ridiculous; we saw some Tony Starks-shaped donuts at a coffee shop this morning.)
When the first Iron Man came out a couple years ago, the Dime office was empty by mid-afternoon as everybody went to watch it. This might be another short Friday, too. But before everybody breaks out, here is our NBA All-Iron Man squad: Read More »
In all honesty, we’ll be surprised if Vinny Del Negro still has a job by the time the Dime crew makes it up to Madison Square Garden tonight for Knicks vs. Bulls. Just when you thought the Bulls were getting their act together and had put together some well-played games, they went out on Monday and — whatever you want to call it — did something that deserves a new word other than “collapse.” If it doesn’t ultimately cost Del Negro his job, it at least has the hot seat burning a hole in his drawers. (And remember, this is the same organization that fired Scott Skiles on Christmas Eve a couple years back. Don’t think Del Negro can use the holidays as a stay of execution.) … Here’s the scene: Coming off an impressive win over the Hawks, the Bulls were up THIRTY-FIVE on Sacramento, at home, midway through the third quarter. The announcers were running out of ways to call it an ass-whoopin’. Read More »

Even with training camp starting next week, there are still guys out there looking for jobs. And while the opportunity to get a non-guaranteed deal for the chance to even fight for a roster spot gets slimmer and slimmer, there are definitely more free agents left on the market than jobs available. Take a look at who’s left: Read More »
While I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, I have to say that today could be the slowest day of the basketball year. Summer League is over, as is the USA Basketball mini-camp, so what is everybody doing? I have NBA TV on in the office right now, and they literally have nothing to talk about. Read More »
For a team in search of talent to add to their roster, looking at the list of available unrestricted free agents is depressing. While sure there are guys that are worthy of an NBA jersey, getting legit NBA minutes is a whole other story. While the prizes on the market are still clearly Allen Iverson, Lamar Odom and Andre Miller, here are the ten best available free agents left: Read More »
Lost in the day-to-day MVP battle between LeBron, D-Wade and Kobe was the fact that Dirk Nowitzki went into these playoffs as hot as anybody in the League. To end the regular season, Dirk went on a string of 25 straight games where he dropped 20-plus points, and took the Mavs from the brink of the Lottery to corralling a 6th-seed. In fact, his final numbers (25.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg) weren’t too far off his stats from his ’07 MVP season. Read More »
