All along, the Rockets stayed competitive. No one’s talking championships in H-Town, but they’re always a solid team, and that’s more than the have-nots in Charlotte, Sacramento and New Orleans can say. Read More »

Come June, all you’ll hear about is the guys expected to be lottery picks in the NBA Draft. Anthony Davis, Jared Sullinger, Thomas Robinson and the like.
March Madness, though, is about finding the gems hidden all season behind those frontline players on big-time schools. They’ll get their due — now it’s time for the unsung hoop heroes. Read More »

Now that we know the brackets and who will be playing where, the real fun begins. Anyone can fill out a bracket with four No. 1 seeds cutting down the nets and making the Final Four. But what fun is that? And more appropriately, how often does that even happen? There will be upsets and inevitably, a mid-level team will get hot. Take a look at LSU in 2006 (as a No. 4 seed) or Alabama in 2004 (as a No. 8 seed). Read More »

In 2010 Kanye West noted that, “I guess every superhero needs his theme music.” In 2012 we can say every college basketball team is dropping its own video anthem. And that’s a good thing. Read More »

College basketball’s a volatile market, but it’s time to buy the five teams, players or coaches highlighted here after what they did this weekend.
A vote of confidence here doesn’t mean they can’t struggle later or won’t be replaced even quicker. But before you hit the rest of the week, watch out for these players and teams on the hardwood after how they worked the weekend. Read More »

It’s finals week on many college campuses, which means it’s a good time to take a look at which players are in the lead for National Player of the Year. It’s only six weeks into the season, so don’t worry if your favorite player (Austin Rivers?) isn’t listed quite yet.
Some of these names aren’t the standard fare, but rest assured, you’ll likely be seeing these names as March approaches. Rather than a traditional Top 10, I’ve chosen to go with a Top 8 to reflect a coaches’ regular rotation. Read More »
