Chris Paul’s Top 10 Crossovers

Chris Paul

Chris Paul (photo. Daymon Gardner)

[Happy birthday to one of our favorite players, Chris Paul. For his big day, check out this list we put together a little while back celebrating CP3's Top 10 Crossovers.]

Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA. There’s no debating that. Anything you need from a point guard Paul can do. Need assists? Paul dished 9.7 assists a night this season. Need defense? Paul led the league in steals with 2.4 a game. Need points? Paul was third in scoring on the Los Angeles Clippers with 16.4 a night (that number jumped to 22.8 in the playoffs). Need ballhandling? Paul dribbles like the basketball is just an extension of his fingers. Read More »

Next Season Has Already Begun; Tony Parker Sues For $20 million

Dwyane Wade & LeBron James - 2012 All Star

The accolades keep pouring in for the NBA champion Miami Heat. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Miller‘s Game 5 ghost and more partied till the break of dawn and then some on Friday morning. We even saw a photo with Wade’s shirt reading “Team No Sleep” and a photo of a 20-bottle sized super bottle of champagne. It was a celebration befitting a King, naturally, and a second day of coverage that echoed what we said here last night: Talk is cheap, but a title is tough. LeBron accomplished the second without much of the first this year, and it seems like most the fans and commentators are ready to forgive. Read More »

Miami Barely Survives An Epic Game From Rajon Rondo; New Orleans Gets No. 1 Pick

Dwyane Wade

Was it an offensive foul? Probably. Instead, Kevin Garnett got whistled for the foul despite getting kneed in the man parts, and Dwyane Wade converted a three-point play, the biggest play in overtime of Miami’s crazy 115-111 win. He helped make up for the fact that he made two poor plays near the end of regulation, which when coupled with LeBron James (34 points, 10 rebounds, seven dimes) missing two potential game-winners, forced overtime. The Heat needed all the help they could get (Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers, the refs) because Rajon Rondo played the single greatest game of his life (He also got screwed on a rather obviously call down the stretch). He had 44 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists and played every second. Read More »

Dwight Howard’s Gone; Everyone Playing Thursday Tries To Fight

Dwight Howard

So long, Superman. It was reported late that Dwight Howard will undergo season-ending back surgery on his herniated disc, news his agent and the team confirmed. After Stan Van Gundy said Dwight wanted him fired a couple weeks back, Howard missed a couple games with back spasms. Everyone read that to mean: I’ve given up. Turns out, the back injury is no joke. Just ask David Robinson, whose career had a painful end because of a similar injury. Now Howard’s out for the Olympics, too, which means Spain has one fewer U.S. big man to worry about. Read More »

If you’re a fan of Jackie Moon and Semi-Pro, then you’re going to love this. Top 5 JaVale McGee NBA Dunk Fails

JaVale McGee

JaVale McGee

There’s no doubt that JaVale McGee is one of the best dunkers in the NBA. In fact, he should be the reigning NBA Dunk Contest champ after last February’s performance in L.A. The only problem is, “Pierre” doesn’t always seem to realize the proper time and place to throw down. So after his alley-oop to himself in Monday’s loss to Houston drew criticism from Flip Saunders to John Wall, I decided now was as good a time as any to compile McGee’s top 5 dunk fails from his NBA career. Enjoy! Read More »

NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Miami Heat

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & Chris Bosh

The Miami Heat’s shortcomings last season were well-documented. That said, it should do nothing to diminish the fact that this time has some serious fantasy firepower. Aside from the Big Three, there is some residual value to be had on this squad. Whenever the NBA starts up again, fantasy owners would do well to keep a close eye on which players the Heat adds to its roster, and which of its free agents it chooses to re-sign. It’s very possible that this team will have a whole new batch of role players once its retooling is over with. Read More »

The Calm Before The Storm; Greg Oden May Have A Big Payday

Greg Oden

We don’t really want to use the word. Let’s just leave it at this: the NBA is on its way to a thing – a thing that only happens when the Collective Bargaining Agreement expires. This thing rhymes with “flock route” which also might have something to do with birds flying south for the winter. This thing could last ’til the winter. And even though the two sides involved in preventing this thing are meeting today for the last time before the CBA expires, this thing is still probably going to happen. Read More »

Yale’s Greg Mangano Sets His Sights On The 2012 NBA Draft

Greg Mangano

This April, Yale forward Greg Mangano made an announcement unusual for Ivy League players just finishing their junior season: he was declaring for the NBA Draft.

The decision came as a shock to many who had never heard of Mangano – a 6-10, 240-pound big with a nice touch who toils in a league with no television deal or athletic scholarships. But while Mangano’s work may have gone unnoticed by the common fan, NBA scouts were paying attention this season as he lit up the Ivies for 16.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Read More »
