Ricky Rubio Makes Magic Again; Washington Is Embarrassing Themselves Right Now

Ricky Rubio

The Wizards are SO depressing to watch, and it’s not even because they can’t win a game. No one seems to care. JaVale McGee gets stripped in the lane and stands there looking all depressed like someone just jacked his all-black matte truck as the action takes off past him. Nick Young only seems to be into it when he’s scoring. The crowd seems like they’re listening to an opera instead of watching a basketball game. It’s not hard to figure out why this team is struggling. Damn Washington, you might suck but you should at least be exciting to watch. They took an uppercut to the chin from the best 3-5 team in the NBA yesterday, losing by 21 to the Wolves. Read More »

Fantasy Basketball: Suspensions & Injuries To Start The Season

Andrew Bynum

The lockout is just a memory, the NBA is days away from its glorious Christmas Day return, and fantasy basketball preparations are in full swing. But you can’t escape the past. This isn’t a life lesson from the fingers of someone wholly unfit to give you non-fantasy basketball advice – it’s a reminder that suspensions handed down late in the 2010-11 NBA season are going to affect some players’ availabilities in the early going this season. On top of those suspensions are injuries and health conditions that will have implications from the outset of the 2011-12 NBA season. Below is a rundown of early suspensions and injuries, and the players who stand to benefit from those circumstances. Read More »

Dime Q&A: John Wall Talks Kicks, Wizards & Kentucky Basketball

John Wall

Last week, John Wall hit the streets of New York City to celebrate the release of his new signature shoe, the Reebok Zig Encore. After all the commotion died down, we got a chance to catch up with John to chat about his new kicks, the Wizards and Kentucky’s chances this season. Read More »

NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Washington Wizards

John Wall

The Washington Wizards rounds out our rundown of fantasy basketball analysis for each NBA team. The Wizards are led by a talented point guard who supposedly has an improved shot, along with two big men who’ve struggled so far to truly break through in any real way. Though the rest of the roster’s fantasy potential is a bit hazy, one thing is certain: a rookie’s girlfriend is about to take the NBA by storm. Read More »

NBA Focus Shifts From Draft To Lockout; Kahn Strikes Again & Jan Vesely’s Girl Takes Center Stage

Monta Ellis

Remember Jan Vesely’s Notebook-worthy kiss of his girlfriend last night? Her name is Eva Koudouskova and she’s taller than half of Minnesota’s roster. There are some hilarious YouTube videos of her and Jan where the reporters ask her all about her game (she hoops), with Vesely standing to the side like a sick puppy, only getting questions like “Where did you meet her?” or “How do you pronounce her last name?” Read More »

Dime’s 2011 NBA Draft Awards

2011 NBA Draft

Welcome to the 2011 NBA Draft Awards – an awards ceremony where we celebrate the obscene, the awkward and the term “wingspan.” Unlike the red carpet, we encourage the peculiar and admire the hideous. You wear a green suit, you probably get an award. You hug David Stern for more than four seconds, you probably get an award. You make fun of what Craig Sager’s wearing or his unnecessary question about how you’re feeling now that you just got drafted, you bet your ass you get an award. Much like the Oscars, this award defines your legacy – separating the boys from the Hall of Famers.

So without further ado, your 2011 NBA Draft Awards: Read More »

Tweets From Last Night: 2011 NBA Draft

Jimmer Fredette

From what I recall in my young life, I’d rank this draft in the top 5, not because it was utterly surprising as far as picks go, but mostly because of how much Twitter enhanced the viewer experience. OK sometimes the pre-pick “sources told me blank team is taking blank player” tweets ruined the surprises; it was a little too NFL Drafty for my tastes. Read More »

Jan Vesely Is “Happy”

Jan Vesely

The enigma of the entire draft. At first, we thought Jan Vesely, the Wizards’ pick at No. 6, was a mack for the way he smooched his girl on camera. Then, Fran told us he’d win a dunk contest someday so we were convinced he was a player. Then, his interview came up and he seemed either extra nervous or completely lost. Finally, we have this picture which is easily the photo of the night. Read More »

No Mega-Deals In The NBA Draft; Cavs Take Kyrie Irving At No. 1

Kyrie Irving

After all the rumors, all the trade speculation, all the gossip, our biggest trade of the day came before the draft even started. Yes, we figured Kyrie Irving would go No. 1, followed by Derrick Williams and then after that, all bets were off because the prospect level just wasn’t that good. But we wanted moves. That’s what a bad draft guaranteed us right? Read More »

2011 NBA Draft: Jan Vesely At No. 6 To Washington

Washington Wizards

Fran gave him the patented “freak” athlete description. Jan Vesely can definitely get up and down the floor. He’ll make a nice partner next to John Wall for the next few years.

They say he’ll one day win a Dunk Contest, but is he even the best dunker on his team? We will see. Read More »
