NBA Rumors: Jeff Van Gundy is a Top Target For Brooklyn Nets

Another Jeff Van Gundy Masterpiece

Despite leading the Brooklyn Nets to a 35-19 record and the fourth playoff seed in the East after taking over for Avery Johnson part way through the season, the Brooklyn Nets announced over the weekend that they were parting ways with interim coach P.J. Carlesimo.

With the search on for one of the most high-profile coaching gigs in professional sports, rumors of a leader for the job has already emerged. Read More »

An Unexpected Hero Slays The Knicks; Tracy McGrady Finally Makes The Second Round; L.A. Is Embarrassed

Jason Terry

Jason Terry admitted it after Boston’s season-saving seven-point overtime win over New York yesterday afternoon. The JET hasn’t had the greatest of seasons, falling off from a super clutch old timer to… just some guy who takes up space, gets tattoos he can’t back up anymore and does annoying fighter plane dances. Denver’s Winning Streak Is Over; John Wall Lights Up Memphis For 47 Points

Danilo Gallinari

Fifteen-game winning streaks generally don’t end at the hands of names like Brian Roberts, Darius Miller, Ryan Anderson and Roger Mason. Then again, 15-game winning streaks generally don’t end in 24-point blowouts at the hands of a 25-win team, either … Read More »

March Madness Is Finally Here; LeBron James & Miami’s Win Streak Reaches 22

Cody Zeller

A few interesting subplots went down in the NBA last night, headlined by Miami invading Jurassic Park and destroying the Raptors. But it all still took a backseat to March Madness … While many predicted the top four No. 1 seeds correctly (Louisville, Kansas, Gonzaga and Indiana), that still didn’t stop Jay Bilas and the rest of the fellas from questioning them. Carmelo Burns Brooklyn Yet Again; Paul Pierce Does Something Larry Bird Never Did

Carmelo Anthony

They say the only certainties in life are death and taxes. After watching the action Wednesday night, we can add one more: Carmelo is gonna give Brooklyn buckets. Three times Brooklyn and New York have matched up to battle for the rights to Gotham, and all three times, Gerald Wallace has walked off the court looking dazed and confused like he just took nine rounds of Money Mayweather hooks. ‘Melo wasn’t sure he’d even play last night because of an ankle, but said this was too big of a game to miss. The 14 Strangest Fines, Ejections & Suspensions In NBA History

Latrell Sprewell (Dime #11)

Every year, NBA players, owners, coaches and general managers donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity. Not all of their philanthropy is voluntary. In the NBA, it’s a fineable offense to wear a headband upside down, to publicly criticize an official, or to execute a chin-up on the rim. As you can imagine, some of these things happen quite frequently. Read More »

Video: Russell Westbrook Stars In Hilarious ESPN Commercial

Jeff Van Gundy

What’s a sign the NBA regular season is coming soon? ESPN is rolling out its new lineup of NBA on ESPN ads, which are consistently some of the wittiest ads on television (my favorite is this). Its debut commercial this year isn’t any different, playing off Russell Westbrook‘s penchant for lensless glasses and reckless driving (to the hoop, usually). Jeff Van Gundy returns in his role as a solid laughs contributor off the bench. Read More »

Dwight Howard Loves Orlando; Brandon Knight Isn’t A Brand Name

Dwight Howard

We’re guessing the person at the Orlando Sentinel‘s ad department laughed it off as a crank call at first. We’d like to place an ad for Dwight Howard thanking Orlando. Ha ha, yeah right but I have to get back to work. But no, this was very real and very surreal. The money for the full-page ad in Sunday’s edition of the newspaper has probably already been cashed, but we’re of the thinking the supposed empathy behind the move would bounce like a bad check. 5. ANDREW BYNUM Andrew Bynum is headed back home after the blockbuster 4-team deal sent him east to Philadelphia. He’s going to be an hour outside of the Plainsboro, NJ neighborhood he grew up in, and that might make the head-scratching big man less of a question mark. It might set him at ease, so he’ll finally be able to put together a consistent year. Read More »

Jeff Van Gundy: Bulls May Miss The Playoffs; LeBron Gets Rejected

Derrick Rose

It’s hard to be considered an offseason winner when your No. 1 player and franchise cornerstone recently tore up his knee and won’t be returning until probably March at the earliest. But the Bulls aren’t just going to be one player down next season; They’ve made some huge changes in this offseason. They lost Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver and Omer Asik, among others, and replaced them with Kirk Hinrich, Nate Robinson and Nazr Mohammed. Rose probably means a dozen wins himself, and with the new changes they’ve made, Jeff Van Gundy doesn’t think they’ll even make the playoffs. The Notorious J.V.G. said on ESPN 1000′s “Waddle & Silvy” show that it’ll be a heck of a year if the Bulls can even win half of their games. Read More »
