On a team known for its experience – and bad knees – Avery Bradley is an anomaly. The 21-year-old combo guard is the youngest player on the Celtics’ roster. In fact, it was just three years ago that Bradley was putting up 19.1 points per game at Findlay Prep, a feat that earned him the No. 1 ranking in the ESPNU 100, four spots ahead of John Wall. On Twitter a couple weeks ago, WFAN Radio’s (New York) Evan Roberts tweeted a suggestion that as part of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement, each team should be allowed to void one bad contract. I thought that was an interesting idea, and did some research, and here is one contract each NBA team would probably like to void: Read More »

Is there anyone in the League that goes harder in the paint than Kenyon Martin? The former consensus National Player of the Year and No. 1 draft pick was arguably one of the best big man dunkers in the early 2000s. I’ve seen a fair share of facials throughout my years of watching the NBA, but there isn’t one I love more than this. K-Mart and Jermaine O’Neal were at the top of their game, both young and highly athletic dunkers before knee injuries slowed their careers. Kenyon started last season off slow, but don’t get it twisted – he’ll still bring the thunder on you like Zeus.
With the World Basketball Festival commencing last night, and the World Basketball Championships just around the corner, I’ve been looking at this year’s USA roster and comparing it to years past. While the original Dream Team takes the cake as the best USA team ever, the 1996 team wasn’t bad either. While looking at the ‘96 Olympic team, I thought it would be interesting to match them up to the 1996 NBA Draft Class, widely considered one of the best ever. I put a roster together from that Draft to compete against the Olympic team, and then picked a winner. Here we go: Read More »
While some leagues will be done with their seasons after this weekend, others are going all the way to the end. This means that two risks will arise for teams that will still be competing for the next week and a half: studs on NBA teams that have little to play for or have limbs to rest could rack up some DNPs and reduced minutes, and players who have had minimal relevance up until now could get some extra run, for various reasons. In light of these possibilities, here is a list of players who could hurt their fantasy owners with DNPs in the final stretch as well as a list of players who might warrant a gamble during the final couple games of the season. Chris Paul is averaging 8 points, 2 threes, 1 rebound, 5 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.5 turnovers in his two games since returning from knee surgery. He played 21 minutes in his first game and 31 minutes in his second game, which is good to see. Expect CP3 to return to something close to his peak form before the season is up. Read More »
Beast of the Night:Trevor Ariza finished with 18 points, 3 threes, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and 3 turnovers against the Clippers. He shot 35 percent (7-20) from the field and 33 percent (1-3) from the line. Ariza’s on a nice little roll right now, though his free throw shooting leaves something to be desired. Read More »

J.R. Smith has been making nightly appearances on SportsCenter highlights lately for his vicious dunks, but he’s done nothing to get the attention of fantasy owners so far this season. But if you look at his game log from last two seasons, it’s obvious that Smith is fully capable of turning things around after the All-Star break. It’s a bit speculative, but buy him at a low price from a disgruntled, impatient owner. Read More »
