Jerry Stackhouse Puts Richard Jefferson On Blast

To make it to the NBA, you have to have talent. But to play a whole career in the NBA, you have to have a whole lot more than just that. As a 15-year NBA veteran, Jerry Stackhouse knows a thing or two about both. And on his SIRIUS Satellite Radio show, “Stack’s House,” the Bucks swingman decided to drop some veteran knowledge on Richard Jefferson’s performance in San Antonio. Too bad the Bucks and Spurs already played their two games this year before his arrival in Milwaukee, because I would fly out for this match-up after Stackhouse puts Jefferson on blast. Read More »

Live From The Player’s Hotel

This is where amazing really happens. With almost every single NBA player in town staying in one hotel, the lobby is like looking through your basketball card collection. You have rookie cards (DeMar DeRozan was just kind of chilling by himself) and then you have veterans (like Jerry Stackhouse and Stacey Augmon who rolled in with their kids). You also have guys that grew up together (like D.C. products Michael Beasley and Kevin Durant showing one another some love), and Hall of Famers (like Magic Johnson and Bill Walton). Oh yea, and then there’s Tim Duncan. Read More »

Top 10 NBA All-Star Moments of the 2000’s

Yesterday I turned 28 years old, and I can’t help but feel like a grandpa. (Although as my Dad makes sure to point out, “They said 50 is the new 30. Nah. Fiddy if FIDDY!”) This means I’ve legally been a grown man for 10 years. I graduated high school 10 years ago. And 10 years ago, the NBA All-Star Game was a magical fantasy land — far from something I thought I’d ever attend, write about, and call it “work.”

Do you realize that of the 24 players who appeared in the 2000 ASG, half of them aren’t even in the League anymore? Even looking at the survivors makes me feel old: Read More »

Cardiac Kids

Dirk Nowitzki (photo. Monte Isom)

The thematic stat you’re going to hear whenever the Mavericks get into another close game is that, dating back to last season, the Mavs are 10-0 in their last 10 games that were decided by one point. The Mavs are also 3-0 this season in games decided by two points, including last November when Dirk Nowitzki hit a game-winner in Milwaukee. Last night the Mavs hosted the Bucks, and again it went down to the wire … Read More »

Joe Alexander’s Career Isn’t Over Just Yet

Perhaps his basketball career hasn’t gone as expected, but don’t give up on Joe Alexander just yet. Sure his contract option for next season was declined back in November – making him the highest-drafted rookie to ever have his rookie option declined – but Joe Alexander is back on the right track. Having injured his right hamstring back in October, he’s yet to play an NBA game this year. But starting today, the second-year forward will be playing for a new team: the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Ranking the NBA from worst to first…

30. New Jersey Nets (3-37) Last week: Lost to Boston; lost to Indiana; lost at L.A. Clippers. Rafer Alston’s been sending letters to the guys, telling them what it’s like on the outside. It’s been good for team morale.

29. Minnesota Timberwolves (9-33) Last week: Lost at Houston; lost at Memphis; beat Philadelphia. In case you forgot Wayne Ellington was in the League, he had a couple breakout games last week. In the triple-OT loss to the Rockets (17 pts), he was called upon to take some crunch-time shots, and he delivered some of the time. Read More »

Jerry Stackhouse Gets His Chance To Show He Still Belongs

The combination of Michael Redd going down with a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 10 and the mounting losses in Milwaukee, the Bucks were forced to acquire somebody who can help fill Redd’s void and hopefully provide the team with a spark going into the second half of the season. Yesterday, the Bucks signed free-agent guard/forward, Jerry Stackhouse, for the rest of the season. Read More »

Keepin’ it 100

Carmelo Anthony, Dime #53

Phil Jackson is the king of the smart-ass, “Did he just insult me?” sneaky insult; Stan Van Gundy is good for more blatantly throwing you under the bus and making it work; Gregg Popovich will scream at you in front of 20,000 people but never lose your respect; and Mike Brown will get himself ejected in a minute going to bat for you — so long as your name is LeBron James. But you have to love the way Jerry Sloan gets it done: No games, no tactics, just telling it like it is whether he’s in a closed locker room or in front of a crew of reporters … Watching the Nuggets spend all night at the free throw line (41-of-49 FT) in Sunday’s win over Utah, most coaches would blame the refs. Sloan wasn’t going there. Read More »

Jerry Stackhouse On Mike D’Antoni: “Such A Control Freak”

Nate Robinson has become the outcast in New York. But one person whose got Nate’s back is former NBA All-Star Jerry Stackhouse. A regular on the Chris Russo’s Sirius radio show, Stackhouse defended Robinson by taking some shots at Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni. Read More »

NBA Free Agents: Who’s Left?

Even with training camp starting next week, there are still guys out there looking for jobs. And while the opportunity to get a non-guaranteed deal for the chance to even fight for a roster spot gets slimmer and slimmer, there are definitely more free agents left on the market than jobs available. Take a look at who’s left: Read More »
