The Clippers are supposed to be taking a victory lap this season after a summer spent acquiring a new, championship-winning coach and two shooters to spread the floor. They also inked a five-year, $107 million deal for point God Chris Paul. But real estate honcho and Clippers owner Donald Sterling almost ruined the whole thing. Read More »

The 20 Best 3-Point Shooters In The NBA Right Now

Stephen Curry

While Dime has done stories on both the best shooters in the NBA and the players with the deepest range, we’ve never focused solely on the three-pointer. The adoption of the three-point line in 1979 dramatically changed the future of the NBA. Would Adam Morrison have even been considered a top 10 pick had this special skill not served a purpose? (Who honestly knows with MJ?) Read More »

The NBA season is less than a month away, and training camps are now open around the country. Preseason games will start soon, and media day has come and gone. It lacks the star power that could be on the move next year, but the 2013 offseason did feature several teams attempting to climb their way to the ranks of the elite, while others traded down in hopes of rebuilding and starting anew. The engine and brains of an NBA starting lineup rest with the point guard — the orchestrator — and the complementary role often belongs to the shooting guard. When the two talents fit, an NBA backcourt is a bad place to get caught up against on either end of the floor.

The Top 20 Shooting Guards In The NBA Right Now

Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant

When I watched the video of Kevin Durant proclaiming James Harden should replace Dwyane Wade in Sports Illustrated‘s top 10 NBA players list, a few things processed through my head, in this order:

1. Sweet! This is exactly what the NBA needs: two of its biggest superstars having beef with each other, especially superstars who play on two of the league’s very best teams. 2. Wait, this is clearly fake, right? I mean, Wade and Durant did that awesome Gatorade commercial together last year, and Durant’s tone of voice doesn’t sound very convincing. This has to be some setup for another commercial or advertisement. 3. Well, even if it isn’t real, I think I agree with Durant. Wade’s getting older and Harden is really growing into a true superstar. Read More »

You might be too young to remember Larry Johnson at UNLV. Hell, you might be too young to remember Larry Johnson at Charlotte. But back in the day, Johnson was not only one of the best players in the nation for one of the best teams in NCAA history, he was also one of the most hated. Read More »

James Harden

James Harden (photo. @jharden13)

While all of America is gearing up for fantasy football, we here at Dime feel that it’s never too early for fantasy basketball draft preparation. And while most believe in building their fantasy teams around point guards and big men, that doesn’t mean shooting guards can be totally ignored. Unlike the point guards we went over earlier this week, there isn’t much depth at the two, so having a stud there could help put your squad amongst the elite. Read More »
