Warriors Owner Joe Lacob Clarifies Reasons For Firing Mark Jackson

Mark Jackson, Steve Kerr

The Golden State Warriors are the best team in basketball. They sport the league’s top record at 16-2, have won 11 consecutive games, and rank top-five in both offensive and defensive efficiency – a feat unmatched by any NBA peer. And while awesome season-long player performance has obviously contributed to Golden State’s unparalleled success thus far, the influence of first-year coach Steve Kerr can’t be discounted, either. The Warriors made only modest adjustments to their roster this summer, after all; the biggest change was replacing Mark Jackson on the sidelines with Kerr. Read More »

Report: Warriors & Klay Thompson Remain $2-3 Million Apart On Extension

Klay Thompson

Much was made of Golden State’s unwillingness to include Klay Thompson in a package to Minnesota for Kevin Love this summer. With Love now in Cleveland, Thompson’s agent, Bill Duffy, is trying to get a max contract extension for a client he calls “the best two-way two-guard” in the NBA today. Read More »

Why Golden State’s Choice Of Steve Kerr Makes Sense

Steve Kerr

The Golden State Warriors agreed to terms with Steve Kerr on a five-year, $25 million deal yesterday to replace Mark Jackson as their head coach. While many expected the Warriors to hire a more experienced coach to guide a roster in win-now mode, this hiring makes a lot of sense when you consider the factors taken into consideration by the Warriors ownership group. The Uncertain Future of Coach Mark Jackson

Mark Jackson, Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors lost in Game 7 of the first round this weekend, and now all the rumors percolating to the surface during the regular season about the hot seat under coach Mark Jackson will be put to the test. Report: Fired Warriors Assistant Coach Secretly Taped Conversations

Stephen Curry, Darren Erman

Coming just two weeks after the demotion of first-year assistant coach Brian Scalabrine, the departure of another assistant coach, Darren Erman, was viewed as a sign that Mark Jackson had lost control of the Warriors. That wasn’t really the case it appears. After the team said Erman was released for violating team policy, Chris Broussard of ESPN reports that Erman had been found secretly recording players and coaches without their consent. Read More »

Stephen Curry & Golden State’s Playoff Run: Payback For All The Fans Who Never Left Them

Stephen Curry

To say that the Golden State Warriors fan base has been tortured over the years would be a huge understatement. It would be like calling Jackie Robinson important to baseball. He’s far more. There’s not a word to describe Jackie’s meaning to baseball. The Warriors fans have been beyond tortured, to the point where, again, there is no word to describe it. Read More »

The NBA’s All-Time Winningest Coach Is Doing Retirement Right

Don Nelson

Don Nelson spent nearly 50 years in the NBA, a very long time to be in any line of work. Nellie — the NBA’s winningest coach — eventually did just that. Now, he’s having a hell of a great time at his adopted Maui home by the sounds of it, thank you very much. Read More »

Chris Mullin Gets An Oakland Basketball Court Named After Him

Chris Mullin

One of the strangest events that happened in this lockout-shortened season was the Warriors jersey retirement ceremony for Chris Mullin. If you need a refresher of the night’s events, owner Joe Lacob got booed mercifully and fans had to be chided by Mullin and former Warriors great, Rick Barry. After all the booing subsided, the Warriors gifted the Mullin family an all-expense trip to Hawaii and finally hung his jersey up in the rafters. A strange ceremony, but a fitting tribute for one of the greatest players in Warrior history. Read More »
