By the lofty standards of NBA stardom, Corperryale L’Adorable Harris – a.k.a. Manny Harris of the Cleveland Cavaliers – has been slumming it. As an undrafted rookie backup on the worst team in the League last season, he wasn’t exactly living out the dream according to the script we all drew up in the ninth grade. And yet at the same time, Harris is living a damn good life. Read More »

Friday was an absolute bonanza of basketball, both college and pro. NCAA Tournament games all day and a 12-game slate of NBA games had us locked in sitting in front of a TV from noon til after midnight … Arguably the best game of the entire day was the Bulls/Pacers overtime battle in Indy. Two weeks ago it looked like the Pacers’ season was a wrap, but after outlasting Chicago 115-108 last night have now won three of their last four … Seriously, the Tyler Hansbrough thing is starting to become ridiculous. He had another monster game, going for 29 point and 12 boards, and when he fouled out in OT, it seemed like there was a definite “Uh oh, what do we do now?” vibe among the Pacers and their fans … Odd night for Derrick Rose. He tied a career-high with 42 points, but he only had 2 assists in 39 minutes. Yes, the Pacers were doubling him all over the place, but for a guy who has the ball in his hands 80% (maybe more) of the time on Chicago possessions, he needs to be setting up guys better than that … Read More »

John Beilein seems to have a plan in place at Michigan. With thousands of kids looking for college scholarships, how does he know who has the potential to make it to the NBA? Well, he’s hoping the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Already with the son of six-time NBA All-Star Joe Dumars (sophomore Jordan Dumars), the son of five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway (freshman Tim Hardaway, Jr.) and the brother of NBA All-Star Al Horford (freshman Jon Horford), Beilein has added another prodigal child to the roster: Glenn Robinson III. Styles make Tournament classics, and one of the standout stylistic contrasts in this year’s first round has 7-seed Clemson facing 10-seed Michigan in the South region.
Clemson is a running team; the third-highest scoring unit (79.0 ppg) in the ACC behind North Carolina and Wake Forest, and the most profilic three-point shooting squad in the conference, hitting an ACC-high 8.1 threes per game at a conference-best 37.9% clip. Read More »
