The Jordan XXXI has been a hit in its high-top form, taking inspiration from the Jordan I and blending it with modern design elements. The much anticipated low version will hit stores on March 7, but Jordan Brand unveiled the first five designs on Wednesday, all for Jordan-sponsored college teams.
North Carolina, Michigan, Georgetown, Cal and Marquette all have their own Jordan XXXI colorway, with their team colors as well as the team’s name, mascot or slogan on the back of the shoe.
The XXXI lows have a similar look, with the blending of colors from front to back, but the Nike Swoosh is removed from the shoe and the Jordan Jumpman logo is pushed more to the center of the shoe rather than the back quarter as on the high.
The midsole and sole of the shoe are the same as the XXXI highs, with the Flight Speed plate. The silhouette is reminiscent of the XX9 lows, and one can assume that the fit and feel will also be similar, considering the XXXI high is much closer to the XX9 high in terms of feel and comfort compared to the XXX (which only was available in low).
The shoe’s outsole features the school’s name and the Jumpman logo (except for North Carolina, which is just Carolina blue with a white Jumpman logo and a black heel).
The five team colorways will hit the court this week ahead of conference tournaments and will be available to the public on March 7 at Jordan.com and select retailers.
