NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Toronto Raptors

Andrea Bargnani

Let’s be blunt: the Toronto Raptors are a sorry bunch, in real life and in fantasy terms. Sure, there are a decent number of potential breakout candidates on this squad whenever the next NBA season begins, but there are also timeshares awaiting a few positions. There’s no true stud here, but when you’re in the latter rounds of your draft, keep some of these Canadian dinosaurs in mind. Read More »

This Is What Happens When NBA Players Takeover A High School

“We came to put on a show,” said Derrick Williams, and that’s exactly what he did. About a month ago, Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Calif., hosted a three-day, four-team exhibition tournament to raise money for the school’s athletic department. And since countless NBA players spend their offseason training there, everyone decided to come out. Dubbed the “Short Summer Pro League,” the games featured Williams, Andre Iguodala, Brandon Knight, Jordan Hamilton, Kenneth Faried, Ed Davis, Julian Wright, Darius Morris, and Devin Ebanks. Jermichael Finley

A member of two championship football teams – one collegiate and one pro – Jermichael Finley has been a winner at every level. But despite boasting countless pigskin achievements on his résumé, the Green Bay Packers tight end still attributes his success on the football field to the fundamentals he picked up on the hardwood with his Houston Hoops AAU team. Carmelo Anthony trade rumors heat up; Nets, Knicks involved

Carmelo Anthony

You have to wonder if the Denver Nuggets had any idea how quickly this Carmelo Anthony thing would spiral out of their control. Back when the Nuggets got knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by Utah, it was bad, but you still figured the team had a bright future with ‘Melo (who’d already signed one extension in Denver and seemed content where he was) not too far removed from a Western Conference Finals berth, a few more years of quality Chauncey, some young talent in Ty Lawson and J.R. Smith, etc. Just a few months later, the odds are looking slim that Denver opens this season with ‘Melo on the roster. Did the Nuggets know ‘Melo had been growing frustrated? Read More »

Chris Bosh admits to “playing” with public before choosing Miami

From twitter.com/chrisbosh

LeBron, D-Wade and Chris Bosh could take a summer-long vow of silence (plus a Twitter fast) and they’d still be the most hated-on group of players in the NBA. So of course they’re only inviting more hate every time one of them says or writes something semi-controversial … After LeBron’s public tweet challenge the other day, this time Bosh put himself out there: “If you think about how many times somebody asks you, ‘How are you?’ that’s how many times I was asked, ‘Where you going?’” Bosh told the New York Daily News. “So it’s like, well, in my case, I’m going to have fun with it. I’m going to play with people’s emotions. I’m going to be high and low.” Read More »

Chris Paul Obtains More Bench Help Via Trade

Chris Paul

While we could all understand why Chris Paul was unhappy in New Orleans, it appears the front office is finally doing something about it. After nabbing Trevor Ariza from the Rockets earlier today, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, the Hornets sent Julian Wright to Toronto for Marco Belinelli. Especially with Darren Collison now gone, this should help bolster their backcourt depth. Read More »

Why The Hornets Should Trade Chris Paul

Chris Paul

Chris Paul said on Twitter today that he wants to represent the Hornets and New Orleans for years. While Paul said that immediately after his meeting with the Hornets’ brass, his frustration with the team is clearly growing, and I think his comments recently have set the wheels in motion for him being traded. Paul is arguably a top-five player in the League, and although loved by teammates and fans alike, New Orleans would be smart to trade the face of their franchise. Read More »
