Video: The Best Dunks Of The 2012 Summer

Werm

We saw Aquille Carr go wild. We saw Tyreke Evans showing off that one-of-a-kind handle. Overall, this summer was great. Even if it wasn’t touching the lockout summer from 2011 – and how could it? – we saw street performers and legit pros everywhere pushing the limits of what we thought possible. Now, we can all sit back and wait for the highlight mixes to start rolling in. Check the video below for the very best dunks of the summer from Team 511. Read More »

Justin Darlington aka “Jus Fly” has been causing havoc across the world recently with his incredible dunking exploits. Dime Q&A: Jus Fly On His Best Slams & His 5 Favorite NBA Dunkers

Jus Fly

The highlight of this year’s World Basketball Festival, for me, might’ve been wear testing the craziest technology I’ve ever seen in a sneaker (the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk 2012), sitting front row along the baseline for Team USA’s intrasquad scrimmage or perhaps even chilling in a suite with the people at Nike for the USA/Brazil exhibition game. Or, I could just say it was watching Justin Darlington aka Jus Fly dunk because honestly, that might’ve topped everything. Read More »

The Story Of World Basketball Festival 2012 In 50 Pictures

Diana Taurasi, LeBron James, Jus Fly & Anthony Davis

Technically, I spent my entire weekend working. But when you’re going to Team USA practice to catch the best players in the world in their element, attending Converse block parties to see The-Dream and Stalley perform and checking out 20 years worth of Nike and Jordan footwear design and technology, you can take it. This really wasn’t work. And the people at USA Basketball, Nike, Jordan and Converse didn’t want it to be. It was a celebration of the game, the Olympics and our men and women who will be going across the sea to represent us on the hardwood. Read More »

Lakers & Hawks Talking Pau Gasol, Josh Smith; 11 Teams Interested In Tyreke Evans

Josh Smith

The Lakers aren’t the Lakers only because they’re in L.A., the city has great weather and a lot of plastic women, and the team has tradition. They’re the Lakers because while many other teams chase their tails for 12 months a year, and then blow it up and start all over again, L.A. has a plan and are patient enough to let it grow. The fact they’ve gone this far without Kobe flipping out and pulling one of his weapons of mass destruction from out of his closet seems to indicate they know what they’re doing and have let their franchise player know everything is going to be okay. Of course, this basically means Pau Gasol is gone. No matter what Jim Buss says, Gasol is a likely goner if the Lakers are looking to make a big move. The problem? L.A. might be asking for too much in return. Read More »

World’s Best Dunker Loses At Midnight Madness Dunk Contest

After years of consistently bringing out the best dunkers in the world, Midnight Madness is fast getting a reputation as one of the best dunk contests out there. Last year, Guy Dupuy broke out a crazy dunk that went viral. This weekend past weekend, he was back trying to defend his back-to-back-to-back titles, but it was Justin “Jus Fly” Darlington who stole the show. Throwing down some absolute craziness, including a cartwheel to through-the-legs dunk and a through-the-legs dunk over a guy who was 6-10, “Jus Fly” showed you how he got his name.

The Best Dunk Contest Ever Held Going Down This Saturday In L.A.

If you were out in Los Angeles last year for the Nike 3-on-3 Tournament, then you saw one of the best dunk contests ever produced. And that was just two dunkers! This Saturday, right in front of the Staples Center at L.A. Live, has the potential to be the greatest slam dunk contest ever held. For real. Werm and T-Dub are coming off their victories in the NBA’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, while Golden Child and Jus Fly have been destroying competition all summer. Oh yeah, and there’s also some guy named James White who was just added to the field. (Unfortunately, he’s not in the preview video below.) After this contest, I think we can pretty much crown the “Best Dunker in the World.”
