Is it time we start taking New York seriously? We’ll have to wait until Amar’e Stoudemire comes back from his latest knee setback, and Carmelo Anthony gets pushed back to the three to see if this level of play holds up. But what else can we say? ‘Melo (21 points last night) has looked like he’s ready to finally embrace basic basketball principles like rebounding, defending and not holding the ball every time you touch it, and New York is getting contributions from everyone. In September we introduced 35th Hour, a new web series starring the one and only Kevin Durant. In the fourth episode, KD catches a football game at the University of Texas, plays in a charity game with Justin Bieber, and hangs out in Baton Rouge during the filming of his new Warner Bros. movie.
I have no clue where this was played, or who their teammates are, but I’d pay money to see Justin Bieber take on Steve Nash any day. And have Selena Gomez there to cheer ‘em on.
In the new issue of XXL which hits newsstands today, cover guy Lil Wayne talks about the release of his highly anticipated new album, Tha Carter IV, in addition to his retirement plans, Drake and Nicki Minaj’s success, and why he’ll never record with Justin Bieber. With that, check out the entire weekend in pictures (and be sure to click on the next day at the end of the post). Read More »
Blake Griffin is a beast. But you already knew that. Hopefully by the end of Friday night, those who don’t have NBA League Pass and have only been exposed to Blake Superior’s rookie brilliance got to see how beastly DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall can be … For the second straight year, the Rookies beat the Sophomores in the All-Star Rookie Challenge, but this may have been the first time it wasn’t an upset. Blake did his thing, finishing with 14 points in 13 minutes, pretty much all of it on dunks. Read More »
The NBA Celebrity Game has evolved into an All-Star Weekend staple, like it or not. Sure, most fans really only look forward to All-Star Saturday Night, maybe the Rookie Challenge on Friday, and of course the main event on Sunday, but the Celebrity Game definitely flies under the radar as a must-see.
With the festivities this year being in L.A. — the hub of everything celebrity — the NBA had no choice but to incorporate a star-studded lineup. And does it really get any bigger than Justin Bieber, who apparently is an avid baller? Read More »
