Let Your Game Speak: Russell Westbrook’s New Challenge

Russell Westbrook

Along with the Nike swoosh, the Jumpman may be basketball’s most enduring symbol since the basketball and the hoop. The most iconic player of all time’s signature silhouette is a remarkable image. It makes us imagine the incredible, and yet it’s still vague. Anyone can make that pose, anyone can dream of flight. Read More »

The E League: Best Celebrity Hoops Run On The West Coast

Chris Brown

This story was originally printed in Dime #69. Check the issue to see the feature in its entirety…

As ballplayers, we all have a natural instinct to entertain. It’s fun to play to the crowd and throw up some three goggles after a deep trey every now and then – even if the majority of us aren’t collecting checks with a mini Jerry West logo stamped on ‘em.

In Los Angeles, entertainers of another breed are getting their own weekly hoop fix inside of a private gym just east of Santa Monica, in the E League. Read More »

Humble & Hungry: Dime’s 2012 NBA Draft Diary With Dion Waiters, Week 2

Dion Waiters

After an outstanding sophomore season at Syracuse that had many analysts talking about him as one of the best guards in the country, Dion Waiters decided the time was right to test his talents and make the jump to the NBA. The Philly native was a beast as a Sixth Man, averaging 12.6 points on nearly 48 percent shooting to help lead the Orange to the Elite 8 this season. Syracuse came up short in their bid for a National Championship, but Waiters’ stock continues to rise. Now as he gets prepared to be drafted into the NBA, Waiters will be giving us the inside scoop on his journey to the draft, how his life is changing and everything in-between… Read More »

In The Place To Be: Live From The NBA All-Star Game

Dwight Howard

I’m back in here like Jordan with the 4-5. The NBA All-Star Game is set to “tip off” in exactly 54:40, according to the shot clock, and unlike last night, I did a better job navigating the traffic. No late bus ride. No idiot drivers. No being stepped on and abused by Ne-Yo and his entourage. No awful elevator system. Of course, my incredible security checkpoint luck continued. As I said, last night, I went through with Ryan Howard. Tonight? David Robinson. Read More »

“The South Florida All-Star Classic” Behind-The-Scenes Photos

Carmelo Anthony

Two straight killer games? We couldn’t have asked for much more this weekend. There was the “Big Payback” last night out in L.A., but on Saturday night, nine NBA All-Stars took the floor at FIU and showed out. Completely. From Carmelo‘s game-saving three pointer to Rudy Gay, Amar’e Stoudemire and the rest of the guys looking 100 percent to even LeBron‘s game-high 34 points, his one-on-one duels with Dwyane Wade down the stretch and his postgame thank you to the fans, it had it all. Check out some photos (all credited to Rahim Thompson) from the event.

Team Jordan vs. Team Nike Game Slated For Miami

Dwyane Wade

Let’s be honest: Who hasn’t had this idea for years? Once Dwyane Wade joined Jordan Brand, I would stay up all night thinking what a three-on-three game between Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul against Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would look like. Now, sans Kobe, we’ll get to find out. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine, the squads for The South Florida All-Star Classic will be headlined by Jordan Brand players (Wade, Anthony, Paul) vs. Nike (James, Durant, Chris Bosh). Oh yeah, and Kevin Hart and Rick Ross are coaching. Read More »

This Is What Happens When Kevin Hart Guards Shannon Brown

I have no clue where this game of two-on-two was played, or who their teammates are, but I’d pay money to see Kevin Hart take on Shannon Brown any day.

Kevin Hart Launches The Jordan Fly Wade In Miami Tomorrow

Kevin Hart

Tomorrow marks a big day. And I’m not talking about Cinco de Mayo or Harold Miner‘s birthday. Rather, tomorrow marks the official U.S. retail launch of the Jordan Fly Wade, Dwyane Wade‘s first signature shoe with Jordan Brand and the lightest Jordan basketball shoe to date. To celebrate the nationwide launch, comedian/actor and co-star of Jordan Brand’s Dominate Another Day commercial series, Kevin Hart, will offer a behind the scenes look at the shoe at the House of Hoops in Miami’s Dadeland Mall. NBA All-Star Weekend: In Pictures

As I said earlier, from games to parties to appearances, there wasn’t a free second to be had during NBA All-Star Weekend. So for those of you that weren’t able to make the trip, I wanted to give you an inside-look into everything that was going on. With that, check out the entire weekend in pictures (and be sure to click on the next day at the end of the post). Read More »
