UPDATE: Apparently there was a Crawford involved, but not one named Jamal. According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, Hawks rookie Jordan Crawford, along with Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and a 2011 first-round pick, have been sent to Washington for Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong.

There have been rumors swirling all day that Kirk Hinrich could be on the move, but no one seemed to know who he would be traded for. Now, according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com, it appears the deal would be Hinrich for Jamal Crawford and his expiring contract. Read More »
To J.J. Redick‘s credit, he has become a much better defender in the NBA than anyone expected when he was coming out of Duke. Still, bad things like this happen every now and then…
As much pain as Ben Wallace‘s swollen ankle may have caused him while sitting at home Tuesday, his eyes would have been hurting more had he watched League Pass last night. Big Ben, Gary Payton, Bruce Bowen, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, Mookie Blaylock — anybody who’s ever made a living shutting down NBA scorers would have cringed at some of the comical “defense” on display … In Denver, the Suns showed up for about 15 minutes before the Nuggets started shooting holes in their D like a game of Duck Hunt. Don’t be surprised when, before the February trade deadline, Miami and Orlando are attached to trade rumors involving guys like Jodie Meeks and Lou Williams. Don’t be alarmed when Erik Spoelstra and Stan Van Gundy begin consulting Doug Collins like he’s Robert Duvall in The Godfather, or when Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard suddenly sidle up to Andre Iguodala like he’s their new best friend. The reason? Apparently the Sixers have the secret to keeping the Celtics in check. Read More »
How many times has a legit NBA championship contender engineered a massive overhaul of its roster in the middle of a season and remained a contender? The most recent example that comes to mind was in ’08, when the Cavs gutted half of their ’07 NBA Finals squad to pick up Ben Wallace, Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and Joe Smith at the February deadline. That team went on to lose in seven games to the championship-bound Celtics in the conference semis … Like LeBron back then, the Orlando Magic have a centerpiece superstar in Dwight Howard whose supporting cast appeared to be failing him. Beast of the Night: Tim Duncan posted 28 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 4 blocks last night against the Nuggets. He shot 67 percent (12-18) from the field and 67 percent (4-6) from the charity stripe. This was Duncan’s third straight game with double-digit rebounds, and he’s averaging 4.3 blocks during that stretch. Though his fantasy value remains limited by his tightly controlled minutes, Duncan remains a strong asset when healthy and given 30+ minutes. Read More »
It’s officially Back to the Future time for the Hornets. After starting the season winning 11 of their first 12 games and eliminating all of the persistent rumors about Chris Paul leaving, they’ve since lost four out of five and reality is beginning to set in. Last night in Oklahoma City — 24 hours after blowing a 17-point lead in a loss to the Spurs — the Hornets led for much of the second half until a flurry of OKC awesomeness sent N.O. home with another loss … Late in the fourth quarter, the Hornets were up by four before Russell Westbrook (25 pts, 11 asts) hit a foul-line jumper. Unlike Christmas Day and its superstar-overload schedule, the NBA picked Thanksgiving weekend to give some of the lesser-knowns some shine, with a national TV schedule only an NBA League Pass connoisseur could fully appreciate. Last night you (hopefully) awoke from your turkey-induced coma to catch Hawks/Wizards and Clippers/Kings, and tonight it’s Rockets/Bobcats and Warriors/Grizzlies … Down in Atlanta, John Wall and Gilbert Arenas’ first real game as a starting backcourt was one to forget.
