Which Team Has Been A Bigger Bust This Year: Cleveland Or Memphis?

Dion Waiters

Dion Waiters (David Richard/USA TODAY Sports)

With everyone so focused on the double travesties going down in the Big Apple — New York is ready to can Mike Woodson and Brooklyn has resorted to all types of shady practices involving soda to try to win games — two other underachievers have gotten away relatively unscathed. Cleveland was supposed to be one of the up-and-coming teams in the East this year. Instead, in one of the worst conferences we’ve ever seen, they’re still just 9-15 and out of the playoff picture. The 8 Best Teams In The Western Conference This Year

Chris Paul

Chris Paul (photo. Daymon Gardner)

Unlike the East, teams in the Western Conference better be able to maintain a legitimate winning record if there is any sliver of hope for a postseason berth. Anything less than .500 in the West equals a lottery pick. This is the NBA’s juggernaut conference. Read More »

JaVale McGee

The Denver Nuggets’ traded Kosta Koufos to the Grizzlies for Darrell Arthur and a second round pick in June so their center of the future, JaVale McGee, could play more after signing a four-year, $44 million deal last summer. McGee has been rather speciously working hard this offseason and he continued his “No Days Off” mantra during a friendly game of Pop-A-Shot. Read More »

LeBron James

We feel like we’re at a basketball buffet this time of year. Between conference tournaments and early NBA games, we could easily have our fill by 7 p.m., and yet there we go, back for seconds and thirds as the night goes on. Given that many choices it truly means something when a game can hold our attention and Miami’s 21st win in a row, 107-94 over Milwaukee, kept us zoned in. Read More »

The Lakers Reclaim Their City; Dirk Tries A New Career

Andrew Bynum

Andrew Bynum (photo. Jeff Forney)

Lob City’s a Laker town again, if only for a night in this upside-down season where the Clippers are the supposed juggernaut in town. With Andy Garcia looking on with an, ahem, obvious Lakers’ interest, Metta World Peace was as much a factor tonight as he hasn’t been the rest of the season. His physicality and hesitation three, his only bucket of the night, with 3:30 left capped an 11-4 run and the Lakers put the game away from there, thanks to two key plays from Andrew Bynum (19 points). In the closing seconds, he caught a lob from Kobe and finished, and then snuffed DeAndre Jordan‘s layup. Was this truly the night the big kid finally grew up? Read More »
