Video: Nick Young Dunks All Over The Best Shot-Blocker In The NBA

Nick Young

As we wrote in Smack, the Philly-Milwaukee matchup was strictly for the NBA League Pass junkies. But if you had tuned in, you got lucky. Nick Young had a dunk that he put all in Larry Sanders‘ face. Sanders, in case you didn’t know, leads the NBA in blocked shots by a large margin. Yet when you jump at everything, eventually you’re bound to end up on the wrong end of a highlight. Read More »

A Hungry Carmelo And Chris Copeland Will The Knicks Over New Orleans; The Lakers Get Dwight And A Win

New York Knicks

On Sunday, the Knicks were looking to Chris Copeland (22 points) to guide them early harder than someone lost looks for the North Star. The “other” guy in the Knicks’ recent starting five hit his first three threes in rapid fire to keep his team afloat in the first quarter and got another bucket before the first quarter was over. Paul Pierce Leads Boston Back From The Dead; Carmelo Anthony Erupts In Disney World

Paul Pierce

Boston had every right to lose this game. They didn’t get into Atlanta until 4 a.m., and they fell behind big in the first half. By the second quarter, the Hawks’ announcers were asking, “Lets blow ‘em outta the building. Whadda ya say?” Lou Williams (28 points) came out and dropped 11 in the game’s first four minutes while hitting three triples, and Atlanta had the Celtics’ offense in a vice grip. Read More »

Chris Paul Holds Off Kobe In An Instant L.A. Classic; Kyrie Irving Has Ice In His Veins

Chris Paul

We were going to write about how seldom games truly live up to the hype but then we had a thought – has there been a Clippers-Lakers game since Chris Paul‘s vetoed trade that hasn’t been satisfying? There have only been five between these two since Paul became a Clipper but each has come with its own story lines, plot twists and huge performances, and Friday night’s game, a Clippers 107-102 win, was no different (shh, but we think it may have been the best, actually). When all seemed lost for the Lakers and they were down 19 points, Kobe Bryant got them within two as part of his 38 points. Read More »

Kobe Bryant Passes 30,000 Career NBA Points; J.R. Smith Hits A Game-Winning Buzzer-Beater

Kobe Bryant

They said they were going to stop the game in New Orleans once Kobe Bryant hit 30,000 career points. He did that just before the end of the first half, going off the dribble and hitting a running floater over Robin Lopez. But the game never ceased, and Bryant – fittingly, as always – didn’t stop either. He hit three more free throws in the final minute of the half to add to his total. The 30,000-point club also includes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. How would you rate that five? Read More »
