So they think they need a committee to study this stuff huh? It shouldn’t take a genius or even a formulation of a number of basketball minds to figure this one out, but as Yahoo! Sports is reporting, the NBA and the Player’s Association are discussing whether to form a committee to study the age minimum for the NBA draft with “the possibility that no immediate changes to the ‘one-and-done’ rule will come in the finalization of the new collective bargaining agreement.”
Good. Maybe they’ll finally discover what I’ve been saying all along. Read More »

Every year, I watch players in high school, stars in high school, and think to myself: “Damn, that kid is on his way to big things.” It’s always hard to sort out the truth from the phonies because at that level, all of them look like future beasts. This guy, he’s the next KG … This guy is the next Amar’e … He reminds me a lot of Tim Duncan. No one compares a high school All-American to Jason Collins or Delonte West or Ronnie Brewer. Read More »

Because there are so many differences in style of play, toughness of competition, and insane numbers to throw around, it’s not easy settling on one G.O.A.T. shooting guard for the prep scene. Over on High School Hoop, Jason Jordan ranks the Top 10 two-guards of the last decade (Class of 2000 to 2010), based solely on how good they were as high school and AAU competitors. Read More »

Other than writing about basketball, the next best thing is actually playing it. And last weekend I was able to do both. Traveling the country always looking for a game, I found myself in Hampton, Virginia for the first annual Red Bull 2on2 Revolution. Held at the legendary Boo Williams Sportsplex off of Armistead Pointe Parkway, our first obstacle was getting in (thanks to a large parade blocking the route). But once we were inside, it was some of the best basketball I’d seen in years. Read More »

This last Thursday, forward Latavious Williams became the first high schooler to jump straight to the NBA since the League instituted its age limit in 2005. Oh, did I forget to mention that Williams went from graduation right into the NBA’s Development League?
You read right: the D-League. Read More »
