Josh Howard

While all these charity basketball games are clearly no substitute for the NBA, I’ll take anything I can get at this point. And if you’re like me, a trip to Dallas may be in your future. On Nov. 12 at 6 p.m., Josh Howard will take his talents back to The Big D to host The Josh Howard Celebrity All-Star Basketball Game at the P.C. Cobb Complex. Read More »

NBA Fantasy Team Analysis: The Sacramento Kings

Tyreke Evans

Tyreke Evans (photo. Nicky Woo)

The Sacramento Kings have sky-high potential when it comes to fantasy appeal. The question is whether they’ll have enough touches and shots to appease all the offensive weapons available. With so many mouths on this team to feed, fantasy owners should keep their expectations in check when it comes to the weekly production of any one of the Kings’ main rotation players. Read More »

LeBron James Seeks A Jedi Master

LeBron James

Professional athletes are involved in a cutthroat business. In a profession where people believe too much is guaranteed, so much is not. Marquis Daniels is one of the recent players who fell tragically to the “what have you done for me lately” mentality. In a routine regular season game in February, Daniels collided with the Magic’s Agent Zero and the famed parquee floor of the Boston Garden. After being rendered temporarily paralyzed, doctors told Marquis that he bruised his spinal cord and, on top of that, was suffering from spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal cord. Read More »

Tattoo Time With Mike Tyson: Kobe, LeBron, DeShawn & Birdman

Apparently Jimmy Kimmel just started to notice that players in the NBA had tattoos. So who better to judge the artwork than the always entertaining Mike Tyson. Watch as Iron Mike dishes on the ink of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, DeShawn Stevenson, Kenyon Martin, Chris “Birdman” Andersen and Marquis Daniels – where they actually use photos that originally ran in Dime.

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony (photo. Syracuse University)

This is where it starts to really get good. The Sweet 16. It’s just a moniker, but it means so much more. You make the Sweet 16 and jobs are safe, at least for the most part. You make the Sweet 16 and the program is satisfied. The ones who aren’t satisfied? They win titles.

With four games tipping off tonight (why we have all day and yet the games are overlapping, that’s a whole other topic, but don’t even get me started…), take a look back at some of the best Sweet 16 games of the decade. Hopefully, maybe one of the games tonight will find its way onto this list next year. Read More »

Fantasy Trade Analysis: Gerald Wallace, Aaron Brooks & More

Aaron Brooks

The minutes leading up to the 3:00pm EST trade deadline Thursday didn’t disappoint. There was a flurry of last-minute swaps around the NBA, a league whose GMs appear to have caught some kind of bloodlust for transactions akin to the fever teenage girls have for Bieber. This means that there’s a whole lot to digest today. Let’s wade through the aftermath and assess the effects of the last-minute trading frenzy for fantasy basketball owners. Read More »

Boston Breakup: Celtics Trade 3 More For A Pick And Cash

Boston Celtics

Danny Ainge definitely went to work today. Some may even say he went to town. After trading Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City, he traded three more players – Marquis Daniels, Semih Erden and Luke Harangody – to clear roster spots. Here’s what went down: Read More »

NBA Trade Rumor: Anthony Parker To Boston Or Chicago

Anthony Parker

Anthony Parker

For the past couple days, two teams have been in the sweepstakes for Cleveland swingman Anthony Parker: Boston and Chicago. The Celtics are said to be offering their 2011 first-round pick and the expiring contract of Marquis Daniels (who could be out for the year), while the Bulls have two first-round picks this year to sweeten the pot. But according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com, two Western Conference “dark horses” have entered the mix. Read More »

Rondo changes his game to spark Boston’s Super Bowl Sunday win

Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo (photo. Gary Land)

Here’s the thing: Just because Rajon Rondo doesn’t score a lot, it doesn’t mean he can’t score. So we don’t always have to act surprised when Rondo gets buckets, like he did during yesterday’s Boston win over Orlando that served as the main Super Bowl appetizer … The Magic did what the scouting report said, sticking close to Ray Allen and Paul Pierce and forcing Rondo to look for his own shot. So considering he has a lethal first step, some of tightest handles in the League, and maybe the NBA’s best court vision, Rondo did what he’s supposed to do: Get into the lane and get layups. Rockets upset Celtics as the NBA takes backseat to Auburn/Oregon

Aaron Brooks

Maybe it was because the tease of Kevin Garnett‘s return from injury turned out to be just a tease. Maybe it was because Kevin Martin (wrist) sat out as a late scratch. Maybe it was because Marquis Daniels (19 pts) led Boston in scoring and Jordan Hill played starter’s minutes for Houston. Or maybe it was because the BCS National Championship Game made it so nobody was really thinking about the NBA last night. Whatever the reason, Rockets/Celtics felt like a preseason game, and the C’s appeared appropriately disinterested … Read More »
