Mikki Moore wasn’t a memorable NBA player. But he had one of the coolest hobbies you’ll ever see: collecting snakes and other reptiles. He’s owned albino Burmese pythons, Colombian red tail boa constrictors and even corn snakes (but he won’t do venomous). Being that I grew up much the same way Moore did – catching snakes, keeping them as pets – I can identify with the obsession. Hit the jump for part two of the video.
I was on the NBA Store’s official website the other day looking for some Nets gear. While there, I got drawn to the clearance section looking for bargains. Just like the clearance rack at any store, there were some hidden gems, but also some things that were plain ridiculous. I came across some funny items skimming through the clearances, and here are the five funniest: Read More »

You hear people always say that NBA players are the best athletes in the world. While that claim is certainly debatable, you can’t argue with the fact that the NBA does have some pretty ridiculous athletes. The game has evolved so much in the past couple of decades and it seems like players keep getting faster, stronger and are jumping higher. Their athleticism has gotten so out of hand that an off-the-bounce, between-the-legs cram in a dunk contest is now the equivalent as a double-pump jam. Read More »
The Utah Jazz are currently accepting applications. After shipping rookie point guard Eric Maynor to the Thunder last week, there’s a vacancy for a point guard to back up Deron Williams. Right now, the team only has Ronnie Price (3.3 ppg and 1.5 apg) holding down the fort as Williams’ main reserve and are looking for an upgrade. Read More »

Maybe Indy coach Jim O’Brien agreed with the Orlando announcer who called Roy Hibbert a “foul-committing machine” who has no business guarding Dwight and maybe he didn’t, but Coach’s plan to single-cover Dwight and foul him basically every time he got the ball worked in the sense that the Pacers were in position to win the game late in the fourth quarter. Last year we debuted the “Highs and Lows” system — previewing the NBA season by predicting the respective ceiling and basement for each team. Same theme, different season…
It’s always great to wake up and have this e-mail in your inbox: “Shannon Brown will DUNK ON YOU!” Have you seen a more viscous dunk recently? Forget about wanting Derek Fisher‘s job, Jordan Farmar better watch out for SB.
Andrew wrote this morning that the Celtics should have been more patient, now having a shot at bigger frontcourt contributors Drew Gooden and Joe Smith, but with Mikki Moore and a full roster, Gooden and Smith will have to find another team to suit up for. Turns out, they’re not the only ones.
As GMs cut ties with players before Sunday’s deadline to still be playoff eligible, giving them a chance to participate in the postseason, who will snatch them up? Ever since the notion of Stephon Marbury to the Celtics was mentioned months ago, I’ve been wary. And despite Mr. BET’s life-long adulation of the player formerly known as Starbury, I still am.
After a respectable eight points in 13 minutes in his Celtic debut, Steph was underwhelming to say the least in yesterday’s loss to the Pistons. Zero points (0-for-3), four fouls and two turnovers in only 12 minutes. Those look like numbers I would have if I stepped onto an NBA court for the first time. Read More »
