Rick Adelman

The Minnesota Timberwolves finished exactly where many expected this season: on the outside looking in for a final playoff spot in the brutal Western Conference. They were one loss to the Jazz in their finale from going 41-41 on the year, but that record wasn’t going to cut it in the West this year. Despite their improved record, sources recently revealed coach Rick Adelman will not be returning to coach the ‘Wolves for the 2014-15 season. Read More »

Ricky Rubio Behind-The-Back Dime For The Dieng Dunk

Trey Burke, Ricky Rubio

Trey Burke, Ricky Rubio (Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports)

Ricky Rubio might be shooting 38 percent on the season, which is actually higher than his first two seasons. His shooting distress might make him a liability at the point guard position, and he might gamble a little too much for steals besides being an otherwise decent defender. But the man can still dazzle passing the ball, which he showed again with a fancy behind-the-back dish to a trailing Gorgui Dieng on Wednesday. Read More »

As much as we love to talk about the sleepers and the busts, fantasy championships are won by the stars. Just as in real life, if you have a Kevin Durant or a LeBron James or a Dwight Howard, you can ride them deep into the playoffs. Read More »

Stephen Curry Outduels Kevin Love As Warriors Secure The 6 Seed

Kevin Love was 7-for-11 for 22 points in the first quarter Monday night, but Stephen Curry was right there with him, pouring in 15 points on 4-for-6 shooting. For the night, Love finished with 40 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists, but he had 26 of those points and 10 of those rebounds in the first half alone. Curry also did most of his damage in the first half, but he helped the Dubs to the win at the end. Read More »

Corey Brewer Drops 51 On The Rockets Including A Half-Court Heave

Corey Brewer

Corey Brewer ( Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports)

Timberwolves wing Corey Brewer isn’t exactly a dominant scorer. He’s averaging 12.2 points in 32.2 minutes a night this season (he was at 11.7 PPG before his outburst) and he’s never averaged more than 13 PPG in his career. That’s what made his 51-point performance against the Rockets on Friday night so surprising and impressive. Like Terrence Ross before him, Brewer’s 51-point game snuck up on everyone. But unlike Ross, the former Gator was dropping buckets at the rim, not just long-range bombs, going 19-for-30 from the floor with most of his field goals in the restricted area. Read More »

With the score square at 110 and the shot clock turned off on the final possession of regulation between the Rockets and ‘Wolves on Friday night, Ricky Rubio drove to the right of the lane, and lofted a pass to Gorgui Dieng. The Senegalese center bobbled the pass once, then twice, as Omer Asik tried to snatch it away. But Dieng finally grasped it and immediately launched a fadeaway with 4.6 seconds left. Read More »

LeBron James Says He’s Frustrated About Not Getting The Last Shot

LeBron James

LeBron James (Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports)

After Miami’s 122-121 double overtime loss to the Timberwolves this past Friday, LeBron James expressed frustration that he wasn’t taking the last shot. In the closing seconds of the second OT session, Shane Battier passed it out to Ray Allen, who was partially covered by Kevin Love. Allen missed, and the ‘Wolves got a big win in Miami, but now James — normally quick to pass to open teammates in the clutch, says he wishes he’d been the one to take the game-winner. Read More »

5 NBA Draft Prospects That Could Transform Lottery Teams Right Now

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid (Kevin Jairaj/USA TODAY Sports)

To think that we’re only three weeks away from the start of the playoffs; the special time of year where all of the “It’s only the regular season talk” stifles and the “Win or go home” mantra begins. While 16 teams prepare their final rosters and create the lineups they believe will lead them to a title, the other 14 plan for the draft, as they wait to see where the ping-pong balls bounce this year. Report: Kevin Love Interested In Bulls, Knicks & Lakers

Kevin Love, Taj Gibson

Kevin Love, Taj Gibson (Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports)

Even though he’s under contract through the 2014-15 season, and has a player option for 2015-16, Kevin Love has turned into the player du jour as we come up on the end of the 2013-14 season. A source familiar with Love’s thinking tells ESPN Los Angeles, it’s not just LA that’s an appealing destination if he were traded , but also Chicago and New York. It seems the small market ‘Wolves don’t hold the appeal of the bigger cities. Read More »
