Report: Klay Thompson “Pissed” He Was Mulled Over For Possible Love Trade

Klay Thompson, Kevin Love

Lost in the offseason shuffle to acquire Kevin Love, was the very real possibility Golden State would trade their young shooting guard Klay Thompson, along with Harrison Barnes and former all-star David Lee, to acquire Minnesota’s ubiquitous trade bait. The fact the Dubs even debated sending Klay to Minnesota has him allegedly “pissed,” sources tell Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher. Read More »

Video: Ricky Rubio Thwarts 2-On-1 Break, Finishes Coast-To-Coast Layup

Ricky Rubio

These are the days before the biggest days of Ricky Rubio’s heretofore wayward career. The one-time prodigy has reached a basketball roundabout at 23 years-old, and which route he takes from here could ultimately decide his hoops legacy. Will Rubio lead hometown Spain to gold at the FIBA World Cup? Will he become the new face of the Minnesota Timberwolves? And will he make good on the incredible promise he showed as a teenager by becoming a star in the NBA? It speaks to the divisive nature of Rubio’s game and his potential that multiple answers to each question seem so possible. If they’re to be responded to affirmatively, though, plays like the one he made in Spain’s exhibition against Croatia will have to become much more commonplace. Read More »

Kobe Bryant Says Cavs Are Making Mistake Trading Andrew Wiggins

Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, Byron Scott

During the 1996 NBA Draft, Kobe Bryant was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th pick, and promptly traded to the Lakers for center Vlade Divac. At the time, it seemed like a big win for the Hornets, since Divac was one of the better big men in the league and Kobe was coming out of Lower Merion High School in Philadelphia, one of the first guards ever drafted straight out of high school to the NBA. Kobe recently compared Charlotte’s big mistake to the Cavs sending Andrew Wiggins (plus Anthony Bennett and a protected first-round pick) to the Timberwolves for Kevin Love, who — to be fair — is perhaps a shade more talented than Divac was at the time. Andrew Wiggins, Bill Self

The No. 1 pick in the acclaimed 2014 Draft, Andrew Wiggins, was back with his college coach, Bill Self, on Sunday to help him run his summer basketball camp in a suburb outside Kansas City. Report: NBA Could Veto Love Trade If Extension With Cavs Already Agreed Upon

Kevin Love

If Kevin Love and the Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t careful, the ballyhooed trade that would sent the three-time All-Star to Northeast Ohio could fall through before it’s actually completed. Given a previous report that the agreed upon deal was contingent on a “firm agreement” that Love will re-sign in Cleveland next summer, ESPN reports that the NBA could veto the trade entirely if it believes such a pact – illegal under league rules – already exists.
