Back when NBA 2K12 dropped earlier this fall, those of you who are heavy into the My Player mode probably stumbled across a nice little tidbit in the game: If you’re good enough, you might just get the cover of Dime Magazine. Dope right? Well after that dropped, we started collecting all of the cover pictures people were tweeting to us and came up with a crazy photo gallery. Read More »

Pistol Pete better be unbeatable. He better be out there throwing in wild hook shots from behind the backboard, and tossing in scoop shots from the three-point line. For all of the eccentric stuff the Pistol did in the NBA, he’ll always be remembered more appropriately for his college theatrics, and the trick shots he mastered so completely (Remember all of those old H-O-R-S-E TV programs). Upon playing the “Legends Showcase” for the first time, and jumping immediately into H-O-R-S-E, I thought Pete Maravich needed to come correct. If the 2K developers didn’t arm him with justice, there would’ve been Hell to pay. Thankfully, the Pistol was at his gun-slinging best. Read More »

The driving force behind NBA 2K12 was that it allowed you to determine, once and for all, the greatest player of all time. Now, with the downloadable content add-on “Legends Showcase,” you have 45 new NBA greats to choose from, and this time, the battle is going down in the center of Times Square.
I got a chance to get a sneak peak of the “Legends Showcase” add-on from our friends at Access Communications, and I came away feeling as though I could play these new modes for hours. Read More »

Is this the year for Miami’s redemption? The year LeBron turns it all around and rids himself of those evil demons? We may never know for sure. But at least in the video game world, 2011-12 is all about South Beach and LeBron James. Without the real NBA, I simulated a season to see what would happen. Of course, gamers know with stuff like this, there are always oddities (How did Antawn Jamison make an All-NBA Team? Or Dirk an All-Defensive Team?). But they seem to get the majority of stuff right. If we’re relying on NBA 2K12, then this year would’ve been all LeBron’s. Read More »

Nobody told Jeff Teague he had to stick to the script.
Before last summer’s Eastern Conference Semifinals between the Hawks and top-seeded Bulls tipped off, Teague was cast as a bit player. The 6-2 point guard, Atlanta’s first-round draft pick in 2009 who was on the verge of being labeled a bust, had averaged just 4.5 minutes of action in just two appearances during the Hawks’ first-round series. But when injuries forced Teague into a starting role – and a nightly matchup with league MVP Derrick Rose – he responded like a man ready to steal the show. Read More »

NBA 2K12 won’t stop with just a few basketball legends. They’re going all out this holiday season, giving us everyone from George Mikan to Jamal Mashburn. It was recently announced that 2K would be offering a special mode – called the “Legends Showcase” – for download at some point soon where gamers would have the chance to hit the blacktop in Times Square and play one-on-one, H-O-R-S-E, 21 and any other number of games like two-on-two teammate challenges against some of the best the NBA has ever seen. We knew that. Now we also know what players will be in the add-on. If you didn’t think you would be purchasing the “Legends Showcase,” this might change your mind. Read More »

Well… we’re getting there. A source who was briefed by the owners and players told CBSSports.com that significant movement has been made toward finalizing a new CBA. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports tweeted that two sources – one on the ownership side and one on the union side – both with direct knowledge of the proposals, were encouraged by the latest movement. One reason for the rumored progress could be that the owners have dropped their insistence on the 50/50 split on the BRI (Basketball Related Income). The BRI has been blamed for talks breaking apart week after week. Is it just us or is this sounding like an NBC sitcom more and more each week? Better yet, the modern Odd Couple with David Stern and Billy Hunter … Read More »

Have you had enough of Wilt, Russell, Bird & Jordan? What am I saying? That’s impossible. They’ve helped make NBA 2K12 arguably the greatest basketball video game ever. As I’m sure most of you are deep into the Legends mode on 2K12, new downloadable content will soon be available for the first time ever that’ll enhance all of that even more. It’s called the “Legends Showcase” and it’s scheduled to be released this holiday season. It’ll feature all new content set in New York City’s iconic Time Square with a new, cell-shaded art style. One of the more prominently promoted features of the new NBA 2K12 is the ability to play with great teams from NBA history. Ostensibly, this would allow one to discover who the greatest squad ever was, albeit in a virtual and fictional setting. Is it Jordan and the 72-win Bulls? Bird and the ’86 Celtics? The Kobe-Shaq Lakers? The Duncan-Robinson Spurs? Make it a head-to-head contest, and you can find your answer. Read More »

Other than the arrival of Norris Cole, it’s been a tough summer for Miami Heat fans. Not only are they dealing with the NBA lockout like the rest of us, but they’re also wondering what the potential loss of a season means for the future of their franchise. At least NBA 2K12 has brought them something to get excited about: the Heat will be getting black alternate jerseys. Read More »
