After 12 years holding down Fifth Avenue in New York City, the NBA Store closed its doors in February. But with a new season comes new beginnings, and just in time for the holidays, the NBA has opened a pop-up shop of more than 6,000 square feet.
Located at 590 Fifth Avenue between 47th and 48th Street, the temporary space will remain open as the league continues to scout potential locations for a new flagship store in Manhattan. Read More »

As an NYC resident and basketball aficionado, the old NBA Store was a second home. The endless paraphernalia, retro gear, everything. I bought my favorite pair of Knicks’ shorts there. When the store shut down in February, I was disappointed. A part of my basketball experience was gone – taken, really. Well I’m glad to announce that, at least temporarily, it’s back. Read More »

By using NBA stars Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, Wilson Chandler and Jordan Farmar as runway models, the sneaker giant showed off the results of their research and hard work over the last four years. Normally the tweets you get from @NBAStoreNYC are pretty tame. A sale going on, an autograph session, etc. But today this came out of left field. Apparently next season at your local pizza parlor, they’ll have licensed edible NBA logos for all 30 teams to put on your pie. I’m speechless. Read More »

When I think of the NBA Draft, three things come to mind: 1) Becoming a millionaire, 2) Shaking hands with David Stern, and 3) Putting on the hat of the team that selected you. (Yes Kobe, you were drafted by the Hornets.) Now you too can be part of the action, as the 2010 NBA Draft Cap from adidas – the first authentic piece of team apparel a player receives after being drafted – is available on NBAStore.com. If you’ve ever been to New York City, then you know hitting up the NBA Store on 5th Avenue is as big a destination as visiting the Empire State Building. So if you’ve already made the trip, what’s next? How about the NBA Store in Shanghai. The NBA announced today the opening of a new NBA Store inside the Shanghai World Expo, the largest World’s Fair site ever at over two square miles. And with a record 70 million visitors expected to visit the Expo this year during the six-month celebration, you know they’ll be selling quite a few Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian jerseys. Read More »

It’s not everyday that you get to be in the presence of an NBA legend, but let’s just say our friends at the NBA take care of us. Last week, nine-time NBA All-Star Dominique Wilkins visited the NBA Store to take part in the Panini Adrenalyn Tour. Panini, the exclusive trading card partner of the NBA, launched a new interactive basketball-themed trading card game called Adrenalyn, so when ‘Nique wasn’t showing the kids how to play, we were able to get up with “The Human Highlight Film” to talk hoops. Check out the exclusive interview below. Read More »
