Not every NBA squad was able to effectively handle their business during the offseason. Longtime Chicago NBA writer Sam Smith, who now blogs for Bulls.com, posted a piece about the five trades he think will happen first this season. Some of the potential moves he writes about aren’t so shocking - everyone in the world knows the Jazz would love to move Carlos Boozer (Smith even notes that the Jazz team shop is selling Boozer jerseys at a 50% discount and that he is nowhere to be found in the team’s marketing campaign this year).

Ricky Rubio on the Knicks almost makes too much sense, for so many reasons. And talk about a lure for potential free agents next summer? Not only would a big time free agent get to play in New York, but he would also get to run with a pass-first playmaker who would only want to get said star open looks.

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein is reporting that a Hornets/Bobcats deal that would essentially swap Tyson Chandler with Emeka Okafor is in the “advanced” stages.
Stein doesn’t know yet if the deal is limited to these two players and/or teams, but says that talks have been going on since last week.
If it’s a straight-up swap of Chandler and Okafor, which team benefits the most?
In a relatively minor deal that actually helps both teams involved, the Toronto Raptors have reportedly traded Jason Kapono to the Sixers for Reggie Evans. The Raptors have plenty of shooters on their roster but zero toughness, especially in the paint, so Evans will come in and do his thing in (presumably) limited minutes.
