NBA Trade Rumors: Blazers Say No to No.1 Pick in the Draft

Now that we’re on the other side of the NBA Finals and just hours from the NBA Draft, trade rumors are revving up. Add to it the fact that this is one of the weakest, most flat drafts in recent memory, and you have lots of teams trying to move lots of assets.

Despite their celebration at the NBA Draft Lottery like they’d just won the Mega Millions Lottery, the Cleveland Cavaliers are smart enough to know that they can probably help their team more by moving the No. 1 pick prior to Thursday night. They are reportedly aiming high.

ESPN’s Chad Ford reports that the Cavs made a run at LaMarcus Aldridge by dangling that pick, writing:

“What are the Cleveland Cavaliers seeking in exchange for the No. 1 pick? Sources say they reached out to the Portland Trail Blazers in an attempt to land LaMarcus Aldridge for the Nos. 1 and 19 picks. The Blazers quickly rebuffed them.

“Quickly rebuffed them.” Probably as they should have. LA is one of the premier bigs in all of basketball. Trading him for Alex Len?? Try explaining that one to your fan base…
