Yesterday afternoon, a bunch of the crew was at the Cherry Hill (N.J.) Mall (about 20 minutes outside of Philly) to celebrate the opening of the country’s fourth House of Hoops by Foot Locker (the other locations are Harlem, Chicago and Los Angeles).
The celebration was done right, as Andre Iguodala, aka “Chief Blocka,” and Thad Young came through to talk about the Nike Hyperize shoe, The Hyperizers, and to answer questions from more than 100 local kids who, after taking part in basketball skills clinics in the morning, were brought in for the event. Niketown New York is setting up to be a prime time hoops destination for the month of March. Every week they’re going to be rolling out different free games, events and contests for college hoops fans in NYC.
It kicked off last week at the store with various giveaways (everything from gift cards to Nike gear to free subscriptions to Dime Magazine) and was a huge success.

Inspiration comes in many different forms. Whether it is a song, movie, or literature people look to different sources to move them. With the Olympics less than a month away the time for our athletes, especially the Men’s Senior National Team, to become encouraged to bring the gold home…if they aren’t already.
I recently attended ‘The Commitment’ USAB exhibit and received a book put together by Nike that made me want to get on the next thing smoking to Beijing and bring home the gold medal. Titled ‘United We Rise,’ which also is the U.S.’s theme for these Olympic games, the book is a picture montage of the players in the USA Basketball program as well as small excerpts from Jerry Colangelo, Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski, and the players themselves on what the concept of reppin’ the United States of America means to them.
