Apparently it’s DeShaun Thomas Day here at Dime. In a second story, he apparently pulled the bizarre move of refusing to give the San Antonio Spurs his cell phone when they asked him for it at the NBA Pre-Draft combine. Read More »

Mike, know that The Mamba is coming for you next. In the second quarter of last night’s Lakers/Kings game Kobe Bryant drilled a pull-up mid-range jumper to score the 31,420th and 31,421st points of his career, pushing him past Wilt Chamberlain for fourth on the all-time scoring list. MJ is next at 32,292 … We don’t care if you love Kobe or hate Kobe, you just need to respect what he has done in his career. Read More »

Ohio State sophomore swingman LaQuinton Ross has shown flashes of greatness in his short college career, but last night in Los Angeles, Ross officially arrived. The 6-8 Ross is usually a solid weapon coming off the bench for the Buckeyes, but last night he saved their asses against Arizona. Read More »

Sixteeen Nike-sponsored universities from eight college conferences are getting closer to creating a branded tournament as a tribute to Nike co-founder Phil Knight in 2017, ESPN reported yesterday. The names, as expected, are some of the biggest headliners in college basketball — Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky included. Technically, it will be two eight-team tournaments because NCAA rules prohibit two teams from the same conference playing at the same regular-season tournament. Working around that means the party for Knight’s 80th birthday is ready to go, as long as it can find a TV partner (and ESPN is very interested). Read More »

Over the past few months, Ohio State Women’s point guard Sammy Prahalis has earned space here on dimemag.com and in the pages of Dime Magazine because her game, without trying to sound corny, is electrifying.

Just … wow. In the middle of a great, intense, nationally-televised Big 10 battle last night, Purdue’s Kelsey Barlow got past Ohio State’s Aaron Craft, saw a wide-open lane and attacked.
Jared Sullinger slid over to cut him off and potentially draw a charge, but Sully was a little late and almost got hurdled in the process: Read More »

John Calipari is spoiled. Quit being selfish, Cal – Do you really have to snatch up every great guard? Y’all know the lineup. Rose. Evans. Wall. Brandon Knight ain’t on that level. But he left his mark last night … In perhaps the best game of the tournament, Knight hit the game-winning jumper with five seconds left to give Kentucky an insane upset win over the number-one overall seed Ohio State, 62-60. Knight (9 points) had already beaten Princeton with a game-winner last weekend. But this was different. This was a Sweet 16, best team in the nation, Lottery-screaming pull-up. Chuck said Kentucky played a perfect game. Read More »
