With a Timberwolves team hungry for a playoff berth, but still far enough away to make a No. 8 seed improbable, the Rockets had a tall task on hand, especially when considering Dwight Howard was out after having a fluid-filled cyst removed from his left ankle. That meant long-disgruntled backup Omer Asik would start in his place, and the Turkish 7-footer didn’t disapppoint during one epic stuff of Minney’s Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. Read More »

The Bulls dominated the Rockets so thoroughly, we missed this next highlight. With the game already tidied away for Chicago, and less than nine minutes left in the final session as both team’s bench units were on the floor, Taj Gibson unloaded a mouthful on poor Omer Asik. Read More »

Rajon Rondo

With just about a month left of the 2013-14 NBA season, the playoffs will begin and another champion will be crowned. Just like every year, we saw teams overachieve and underachieve, with surprises and disappointments. Something all I want to ask all NBA fans is did anyone think the New York Knicks would miss the playoffs before the Charlotte Bobcats? If the disappointing Knicks can’t turn it around soon, it’s destined to happen. Also, what happened to the Detroit Pistons who had a promising offseason last summer? And did anyone expect the Portland Trail Blazers or Phoenix Suns to overachieve as much as they have so far? Read More »

The effort was evident, but Dwight Howard just got a bit mixed up. In the first quarter of the big matchup between the Rockets and Thunder on Tuesday night, Howard dribbled toward the basket before spinning and dishing the ball to teammate Omer Asik. Except, there was just one small issue: Asik was walking along the sideline, yet to check into the game. Read More »

It seems the Rockets’ self-imposed deadline today to trade resentful center Omer Asik will come and go and Asik will continue to back-up Dwight Howard in Houston — much to his chagrin. After a bevy of trade rumors had our heads spinning on Twitter yesterday, the Rockets apparently can’t find what they’re looking for in exchange for the Turkish center. Read More »

5 Reasons Why The Rockets Aren’t NBA Finals Contenders

James Harden, Dwight Howard

After watching Steve Blake nail a three-pointer last week to defeat the Houston Rockets, a question popped into my mind: are the Rockets an NBA Finals team? Ever since the acquisition of Dwight Howard this offseason to go alongside James Harden, the Rockets have climbed to the top of the NBA Finals discussion. But I just watched this same team lose to the Kobe Bryant-less Lakers, how could they be a Finals contender? I’m here to tell you that even with the acquisition of the best center in the league, the Rockets are not an NBA Finals-bound team. Read More »
