Every NBA season brings fresh blood and improved players, but only a select few make “The Leap.” It’s the moment we all dream about as kids – when you go from being just another name to the main attraction. This season, many players had a shot at the Most Improved Player award, but only a few have truly arrived. Only five made “The Leap.” Read More »

Clearly, I recognize that there is a huge difference between the physicality and rigors of an NBA game and, say, Flamenco dancing … but still, as a Sixers fan this is tough to swallow.
Just a few weeks after the close of an Andrew Bynum/Sixers season that never was due to (among other things) Bynum’s jello knees, here he is in Spain this week dancing the night away. The Ferrari jacket is just an added bonus. Thanks for this. Read More »

Here’s the new reality: Do not make Nate Robinson angry; you will not like him when he’s angry. C.J. Watson got Nate angry in the first half of yesterday’s incredible triple-OT Bulls/Nets game with this altercation that very nearly erupted in an all-out brawl (and sent Robinson to the locker room to clean up a cut), sowing the seeds for an all-time Nate eruption later in the game: Read More »

A former Husky from Northern Illinois University, Xavier Silas was one of the best players in the country in 2011, scoring more points than future NBA first-round draft picks MarShon Brooks and Jimmer Fredette. Seemingly at the top of the world, it seemed as if nothing could break his fall. Then, reality started to kick in. Read More »

There were no NBA games last night as we all take a breather before the playoffs start Saturday. That doesn’t mean the NBA universe was dormant though as front offices made moves and social media buzzed …
Remember when Jay-Z dropped a fired up “Open Letter” last week to address things that were pissing him off, including the attention he was getting for selling his stake in the Brooklyn Nets in order to become a sports agent? Yesterday afternoon he took a more even-keeled approach with the image you see above and the following post on his Life + Times platform to talk about his move and his relationship with the franchise: Read More »

We make jokes all the time about Kobe Bryant‘s evolution from “human being” into “basketball cyborg” but last night, all of these 48-minute nights finally took their toll. We’d list the leg injuries he packed on over the course of the game against Golden State, but screw it. Let’s just say the dude’s entire lower body was a mess (and he ended up leaving with what is probably the worst injury of his career). Read More »

He comes in to jump start a young team. He’s highly emotional. Players feed off of it. They overachieve as a unit.
Eventually though, he wears on them. They don’t want to go through the rigmarole any longer. His challenges become insults. His voice begins to sound like nails on a chalkboard to them. They disengage. They UNDERACHIEVE. Read More »
