As part of the package going to the ‘Wolves, it was reported that Anthony Bennett would be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Thaddeus Young. Before Nerlens Noel tore his ACL just 24 games into his freshman season at Kentucky, he was widely considered the favorite to be selected with the number 1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Instead, Phoenix took Anthony Bennett, and Noel fell to the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 6 pick, before he was promptly traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for Jrue Holiday and a future protected first-round pick. He took all of 2013-14 off, and finally returned during summer league play last month. The brilliant social media antics of Philadelphia 76ers rookie Joel Embiid have made it easy to forget that he’s arguably the top talent of a loaded 2014 draft class. The two-way dominance Embiid flashed in his lone season at Kansas suggested far bigger things to come given his limited hoops background – the Yaounde, Cameroon native only began playing basketball at age 15. It seems the Kevin Love to Cleveland trade rumors aren’t just rumors. According to Brian Windhorst on ESPN radio this morning, the two teams have a “handshake agreement” to send Love to the Cavs in exchange for Andrew Wiggins. Of course, they can’t finalize the paperwork until August 23, the end of the 30-day window after Wiggins signed his rookie deal with Cleveland. Read More »

Earlier this month, the league formally proposed changes to the current draft lottery system to the competition committee. Under the new rules, the odds of receiving the first overall pick would be more weighted among the worst teams in the league. The Philadelphia 76ers, who plan to be pretty bad again next season, are reportedly trying to delay those changes from happening.
