Video: 76ers Miss Five Layups In One Possession

Jason Smith , K.J. McDaniels

The Knicks won last night, but there’s an asterisk since it came against the Sixers, and some fans are gonna bitch about ping pong balls — forgetting that the team with the worst record has won the lottery half as many times as the team who finished with the third worst record. New York’s 98-91 victory in Philadelphia was just their seventh win of their worst season — so far — in franchise history, but one possession might have ensconced Philly as an all-time bad team more so either team’s woeful record. Missing five layups in one possession will do that. Read More »

Video: Philly’s Jerami Grant Denies An Ambitious Tim Hardaway At The Rim

Tim Hardaway, Jerami Grant

The most impressive thing about this denial by Jerami Grant? He’s clearly the Philadelphia 76ers’ third-best rookie shot-blocker. Watch the second-round pick channel Nerlens Noel and K.J. McDaniels by beating Tim Hardaway to the mountain top and rejecting a dunk attempt by the New York Knicks’ wing. Read More »

Joel Embiid Says He Doesn’t Weigh 300 Pounds

Joel Embiid

After a report this weekend from the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Keith Pompey said Joel Embiid had skipped training sessions and had swollen to close to 300 pounds, Embiid denied the excessive weight gain while his Sixers were in the Nation’s Capital to play the Wizards in a Martin Luther King Day matinee today. Report: Joel Embiid Weighs Close To 300 LBS; Has Blown Off Conditioning Drills

Joel Embiid, Sam Hinkie

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Kansas center Joel Embiid with the No. 3 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft because he was the best player available. After a back fracture kept him out of the NCAA Tournament, he was on track to be the No. 1 overall in June, but a stress fracture in his foot saw him drop to Philly. He’s not expected to play this year while recuperating, but he could be a franchise centerpiece when he does get healthy. A recent report from Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Keith Pompey claims he’s been shirking recent training sessions and has ballooned to close to 300 pounds. Read More »

Video: DeMar DeRozan Scores Team-High 20 Points After 21-Game Absence

DeMar DeRozan

If DeMar DeRozan had any rust in his game after being sidelined from action since Nov. 28, he certainly didn’t show it during his return to the court on Wednesday night. After missing only a combined 11 games in his previous five seasons, the All-Star guard was out for the previous 21 games due to a torn tendon in his left groin. During his injury leave, the Raptors went 12-9 and held onto their Atlantic Division. Read More »

Video: Al Horford Records First Career Triple-Double In Just 29 Mins

Al Horford, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

First, we have to add the caveat that Al Horford‘s triple-double last night came against the Sixers, despite the Sixers no longer acting as the worst team in their conference anymore. Still, Horford and a Hawks team missing the majority of their starting lineup dismantled Philly like they’ve done most of the rest of the league while winning their last nine straight games and 23 of their last 25. Most impressive Horford was that Horford his first career triple-double in just 29 minutes of action. Read More »

GIF: Tony Wroten Goes Off Glass To KJ McDaniels For Slam In Sixers Win

Tony Wroten, KJ McDaniels

Say what you will about the Philadelphia 76ers. They’re tanking. They’re not a good team. Most players on the roster aren’t long-term solutions. Fine. But what you can’t deny about the young Sixers is that they can be very, very fun to watch. In a highlight of the team’s win over the Indiana Pacers – its second-straight victory! – watch Tony Wroten throw an off-backboard lob to KJ McDaniels for a soaring alley-oop slam. Read More »

Joel Embiid Trolls LeBron James On Twitter After Sixers Beat Cavs

Joel Embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the short-handed Cleveland Cavaliers last night for their first home win since April 14. Is that confirmation that LeBron James should have heeded Joel Embiid’s summer advice and joined him in the City of Brotherly Love? The rookie seems to think so. After last night’s win, the injured big man took to twitter to remind The King that he could be wearing blue and red instead of wine and gold. Read More »

Video: Beautiful Warriors Passing In Sixers Blowout

Klay Thompson, Furkan Aldemir

Normally we’re loathe to highlight blowouts like last night’s 126-86 Golden State stomping of Philadelphia; it’s just not fair to the losing team. But the Warriors moved the ball so well on their way to 38 assists (for comparison, the Sixers had 16), we had to show you video featuring a pair of sick Steph Curry dimes and one amazing sequence punctuated by an incredible Andre Iguodala find. Local Houston TV Station Uses NBA 2K15 Pic Of Troy Daniels To Report Trade

Troy Daniels

Yesterday’s trade sending Corey Brewer from the Timberwolves to the Rockets included Houston’s brief hero from last year’s playoffs, Troy Daniels. The sharpshooter was dealt to Houston in the exchange for Daniels and a draft pick in a three-team exchange that also included the 76ers’ Alexey Shved going to Houston and Ronny Turiaf going to Philadelphia. One local Houston station reporting the story used a NBA 2K15 screen grab rather than a real-life photo of Daniels in their segment. Read More »
