NBA Fantasy Risers & Fallers: 3.1

Stephen Curry

As the first leg of the NBA season has closed, player values have fallen in place. Of course there are some exceptions. However, by this time statistics have evened out. The early hot streaks dissolve, and the underachievers slowly work their way back into the fantasy hierarchy. Read More »

Fantasy Basketball: The 3 Best Pickups Of The Week (1.28)

Avery Bradley

Avery Bradley

This week’s pickups list comes with some good and bad news. Let’s just get the negative stuff out of the way first. You could probably do better than this edition’s Fresh Pickings. After having such a thick waiver wire for the last couple weeks, things have slimmed down, and will probably stay that way until the trade deadline opens up opportunities for more players. Carmelo Burns Brooklyn Yet Again; Paul Pierce Does Something Larry Bird Never Did

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony (photo. Zach Wolfe)

They say the only certainties in life are death and taxes. After watching the action Wednesday night, we can add one more: Carmelo is gonna give Brooklyn buckets. Three times Brooklyn and New York have matched up to battle for the rights to Gotham, and all three times, Gerald Wallace has walked off the court looking dazed and confused like he just took nine rounds of Money Mayweather hooks. ‘Melo wasn’t sure he’d even play last night because of an ankle, but said this was too big of a game to miss. Linsanity Reclaims New York City; OKC Proves They’re The Best Team In The West

Jeremy Lin

If we needed any further proof that New Yorkers are crazed lunatics who are more up and down than Joe Flacco, we got it last night. In just a few short months, Jeremy Lin went from favorite son to Judas, from Linsanity to something quite average, and New Yorkers went from “Raymond Felton?” to “Raymond Felton!” Last year, Knicks fans would’ve have given you the business you had you spoken bad about Lin. Now, they’re reveling in his struggles, and booed him consistently last night after initially showing him some love during introductions. Read More »

Video: The New York Knicks Rain Threes on the Miami Heat

j.r. smith new york knicks

We discussed it Smack this morning, but you really need to see the evidence of the Knicks‘ murder in Miami last night to appreciate their work.

Here’s a quick compilation of New York’s 18 threes on the Heat, many of them coming from a swaggering Raymond Felton, who put on the shooting show of his life. You can hear Steve Kerr refer to Felton’s play as an “out-of-body experience.” Read More »

Raymond Felton And Steve Novak Deep-Six The Heat; Latest Pau Gasol Trade Rumors Pair Him With Kevin Love

DimeTV: Behind The Scenes Of Raymond Felton's Photo Shoot

Holy three-point shooting, Knicks. Of all the places to go on a heat check that lasted a whole half, the Heat’s own court was the backdrop of New York’s statement win Thursday night by handing LeBron, Wade and Bosh their worst home loss together, 112-92. Read More »

The Lakers Pull A Disappearing Act Against The Magic; The Knicks Are On Fire At Home

Dwight Howard

All of a sudden, visions of an otherwise forgettable Orlando-Golden State game last season jumped out to us during the Magic’s stunning win over the Lakers in Los Angeles on Sunday night. When it became clear Dwight Howard was going to be fouled by his former team over and over again, to the tune of 21 free-throw attempts, we were reminded of the time Golden State chose to willfully foul Howard and put the game in his hands, 15 feet from the hoop, on an NBA-record 39 attempts. Why 39-Year-Old Jason Kidd Is So Important To The Knicks

Jason Kidd

Jason Kidd, Dime #40

Last night’s battle of the boroughs is all New Yorkers can talk about today. The New York Post had the “Lords of Flatbush” headline after Brooklyn’s win; the Daily News went with the “Battle of Hooplyn.” Since it was such a big game for the regional battle of New York, it makes sense it would dominate headlines. What doesn’t make sense, at least in terms of age, is how important Jason Kidd has become to New York’s late-game lineup. Read More »

Chandler Parsons Maims The Knicks; Brooklyn’s Defense Does The Impossible

Chandler Parsons

The Knicks rarely found themselves on the losing end of the turnover battle in their undefeated start to this season. They also never had someone so thoroughly at ease against their defense until Chandler Parsons‘ first half Friday. The Rockets forward upended the Jeremy Lin vs. Knicks/Raymond Felton narrative when he didn’t miss in the first quarter, knocking down his first eight shots en route to 26 points — in the first half. The Rockets torched the Knicks’ defense that had been at or near the top of league statistics for the season’s first two weeks for 131 points in a 28-point win. Read More »

Turkey Day is one of those guilt-free days where you can cheat on the NBA without feeling bad. NFL football is a tradition on Thanksgiving of course, and we’re left with Texas (Cowboys got RG III’d) and New York (a Jets fail for the ages) as two of the biggest stories coming out of a day without any NBA games. You won’t even have to readjust to make room for one of Friday’s biggest games — the Knicks at the Rockets. Do we even need to state the obvious about the matchup to watch in this game? Read More »
