The Grizzlies Are Starting To Look Like The 2004 Champion Pistons

Zach Randolph

Defense wins championships. Over the years, the same concept is continuously preached… all the while Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Michael Jordan rule the world with unmatched offense. However, in the end over the past 25 years, that theory has been proven correct more consistently than not. Read More »

An Unexpected Hero Slays The Knicks; Tracy McGrady Finally Makes The Second Round; L.A. Is Embarrassed

Jason Terry

Jason Terry admitted it after Boston’s season-saving seven-point overtime win over New York yesterday afternoon. The JET hasn’t had the greatest of seasons, falling off from a super clutch old timer to… just some guy who takes up space, gets tattoos he can’t back up anymore and does annoying fighter plane dances. The Eastern Conference’s Most Disappointing Players This Season

Jason Terry

The marathon NBA season came to its end last week and for some, it’s a blessing in disguise. Everyone had players that didn’t live up to expectations this season. We are going to look at some of these poor souls with one minor disclaimer: The excessively injured will not be included. Read More »

Stephen Curry Sets NBA Record; Tony Allen Is A Karaoke King; Kobe Bryant’s New Signature Shoe

Stephen Curry

On a day that saw the last of Rasheed Wallace, as well as the NBA’s regular season, we saw the first of something else: the first NBA player to hit 270 three-pointers in one season. Stephen Curry broke Ray Allen‘s record last night in Golden State’s 11-point win over Portland, and while it took him longer than one quarter, as Jarrett Jack originally joked, the 6-3 guard still got it done. Kobe Bryant’s Crazed Return Has Already Started, Andrew Wiggins and High School’s Best Show Out in Brooklyn

kobe bryant injury

Here we are, the day after. We’re posting this almost exactly 24 hours after Kobe Bryant’s left Achilles tendon blew up in Oakland. Deep into the wee hours of the night and all day Saturday, the basketball world online was all about Kobe, his injury and what’s next. As we’ve said here though, the only words that really, truly matter are his. In case you missed it, in the middle of the night, a few hours after he hurt himself, Bean (figuratively) put pen to paper on his Facebook page to vent. Pretty great stuff from our generation’s greatest player facing his basketball mortality in real time … And a few hours after his Facebook essay, Read More »

Dime Q&A: Hip-Hop Star Stalley Speaks On His Favorite NBA Team & Whether His Beard Is Better Than James Harden’s Beard

Stalley

It’s always a beautiful thing when you encounter a sports fanatic. I mean the ones who bleed their team’s colors and obsess over their city’s self-proclaimed dominance. The reputation of the Ohio State Buckeyes is irrefutable considering their prominence on both the court and the football field. Nobody can question that. Read More »

The 5 Worst Blowouts In The NBA Over The Last 30 Years

Glen Rice

The Oklahoma City Thunder laid the smackdown on the Bobcats on Monday night, winning 114-69, and negating the positive work new head coach Mike Dunlap had done with the Bobcats to start the season. The Thunder’s 45-point rout of the Bobcats was highlighted by their early 79-25 lead, which prompted DailyThunder blogger, Royce Young, to tweet: “It’s time like these where I really miss Cole Aldrich.” Hasheem Thabeet even recorded his first career double-double (!) in some prolonged garbage time. 5 Early Season NBA Statistical Anomalies That Won’t Last

J.R. Smith

The NBA season is just warming up, and like everything from Kobe‘s shooting percentages to Marcin Gortat leading the league in blocks, there are bound to be some statistical anomalies occuring out of sheer luck. Yes, sometimes, you can spot trends or improvements in a player’s game before they really happen (or at least get noticed on a larger scale). But five, six or seven games is a VERY small sample, and there are plenty of statistical numbers that are all out of whack through the season’s first two weeks. Read More »

We Reminisce: The Best Pass Of Allen Iverson’s NBA Career

Allen Iverson

Allen Iverson (photo. Reebok)

This weekend, LeBron James had one of the best passes I’ve ever seen at any level: a nearly full-court bounce pass that split the defense and hit Kevin Durant in stride for a dunk. Insane. But upon watching it, I was reminded of a very similar play from Allen Iverson just a few seasons ago. This might’ve been the only highlight from a rather disappointing Motor City run for the Answer, but that doesn’t take away from how unreal it was. With one hand, through the legs of Grant Hill, hitting Rip Hamilton right in stride for a layup, you can go a whole career and not have a dime this sick. Read More »
