Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant‘s divorce found its way into “Stay Schemin’,” a song from a Rick Ross mixtape featuring Drake and French Montana. The line in particular that references Bryant goes as follows:

“Kobe about to lose one hundred and fifty M’s [Million}, Kobe My N—- hate it to have to be him, B—- you wasn’t with me shootin in the gym.”

Dime Q&A: Rick Ross & Swizz Beatz At The Reebok Classics Icons Launch

Mike Posner, Swizz, Brandy, Rick Ross

This Wednesday, Reebok invited us and a few other media friends out to the Blazers/Knicks game at MSG to introduce their new “Icons” campaign.

Reebok has always been a brand that hip-hop has identified itself with. The memorable history of the brand goes back to the early ’90’s both on and off the court. While many sneaker brands were only establishing relationships with athletes, Reebok aimed to bring hip-hop and athletics together and really bridge the gap between the two. Read More »

The Top 11 of ’11: Dime’s Cultural Guide To The Year That Was

Lil' Wayne

Without the NBA in our lives, we fans might have time for the things we’ve been putting off for too long. Maybe we’ll have time to finish that historical biography that sits next to the bed getting dusty. Maybe we’ll get more exercise. Maybe we’ll start following hockey? As we get closer to the end of year, we’ll take a look back at all things — inside basketball and out — that occupied our attention alongside the game we love. Lockout Talks Fall Apart…Again; Phil Jackson Says Derrick Rose Needs Help

Derrick Rose

We were soooo close. Imagine if the proper etiquette when you went out to eat or hit up happy hour was to tip two percent. That would feel like nothing. Well in what was considered to be the biggest day thus far of the lockout – the first one where a good percentage of those involved legitimately believed a deal could get done – the guys ended where they started: with nothing. The talks broke down on the dreaded BRI when neither the players nor the owners would move off their stances. The players wanted 52 percent; The owners were at 50. Of course, it’s pretty stupid to compare tipping $6 with a CBA for the NBA but still in the context – with millionaires fighting billionaires, you get our drift. You are two percent away. You want to know how easy it is to fix that? Each side give up a point. Read More »

Team Jordan vs. Team Nike Game Slated For Miami

Dwyane Wade

Let’s be honest: Who hasn’t had this idea for years? Once Dwyane Wade joined Jordan Brand, I would stay up all night thinking what a three-on-three game between Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul against Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would look like. Now, sans Kobe, we’ll get to find out. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine, the squads for The South Florida All-Star Classic will be headlined by Jordan Brand players (Wade, Anthony, Paul) vs. Nike (James, Durant, Chris Bosh). Oh yeah, and Kevin Hart and Rick Ross are coaching. Read More »
