Lockout Talks Fall Apart…Again; Phil Jackson Says Derrick Rose Needs Help

Derrick Rose

We were soooo close. Imagine if the proper etiquette when you went out to eat or hit up happy hour was to tip two percent. That would feel like nothing. Well in what was considered to be the biggest day thus far of the lockout – the first one where a good percentage of those involved legitimately believed a deal could get done – the guys ended where they started: with nothing. The talks broke down on the dreaded BRI when neither the players nor the owners would move off their stances. The players wanted 52 percent; The owners were at 50. Of course, it’s pretty stupid to compare tipping $6 with a CBA for the NBA but still in the context – with millionaires fighting billionaires, you get our drift. You are two percent away. You want to know how easy it is to fix that? Each side give up a point. Read More »

Team Jordan vs. Team Nike Game Slated For Miami

Dwyane Wade

Let’s be honest: Who hasn’t had this idea for years? Once Dwyane Wade joined Jordan Brand, I would stay up all night thinking what a three-on-three game between Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul against Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would look like. Now, sans Kobe, we’ll get to find out. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine, the squads for The South Florida All-Star Classic will be headlined by Jordan Brand players (Wade, Anthony, Paul) vs. Nike (James, Durant, Chris Bosh). Oh yeah, and Kevin Hart and Rick Ross are coaching. Read More »

Dime Q&A: Hot Rod Talks LeBron, 50 Cent & His Musical Adventures

Hot Rod

Hot Rod has played basketball practically his whole life. But for him, the game is secondary to music, as the 50 Cent-signed artist has his new album set for release this fall. With his single “Dance With Me” going viral, I had the chance to speak with Hot Rod on the latest in basketball and his music. Read More »

Sonny Weems Headed To Europe; Deron Williams Hires An Agent

Deron Williams

Once we do finally get into the real offseason, whenever that is, and teams can start making moves, the Kings figure to have the most flexibility and wiggle room. No one knows what the cap will look like, but going off the current salaries and cap holds, that appears to be the case. You know what this means right? Sacramento is going to throw a ton of money at someone like Nene or Tyson Chandler or Marc Gasol. It’s bound to happen. Would any of them bite and leave a playoff (or championship) contending team for perhaps $13-15 million a year? Read More »

As I said earlier, from games to parties to appearances, there wasn’t a free second to be had during NBA All-Star Weekend. Dime’s NBA Playlist: What are the players listening to?

Kevin Durant

It’s been a summer of excitement for basketball and hip-hop fans alike. LeBron told us he was forming a super-crew in South Beach — he’s undoubtedly playing Thank Me Later for Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh — while Rick Ross made sure we were reminded who still owns the throne in Miami.

Big Boi’s newest release, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, should be a blueprint for Amar’e Stoudemire on how to step away from a successful duo and make moves on his own. Read More »

Teflon Don

Dwyane Wade (photo. Jeffery Salter)

Yeah, we’re talking about That Dude in Miami, but no, it’s not Rick Ross. For a brief moment on Sunday, Dwyane Wade took LeBron‘s spot as the NBA’s biggest lightning rod for criticism before avoiding the full brunt of an big controversy … Wade was initially quoted in an interview saying, “If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade is coming down again.” Not long after that hit the airwaves, though, the news source in question retracted and admitted Wade was misquoted.
