I’ve been to some good games at some great venues – Madison Square Garden for the NBA, CenturyLink Field in Seattle for the NFL, Busch Stadium in St. Louis for Major League Baseball – but I doubt there’s a better place to watch a big game than Assembly Hall at Indiana University.
The house that Bob Knight turned into NCAA hoops holy ground was the site of not only the best college basketball game of the season on Saturday, but maybe the best game of any sport in 2011. Royce White’s college basketball career has ended before it really had a chance to start. Royce White announced via YouTube, that he will be leaving the University of Minnesota and subsequently college basketball. Royce said he will not transfer because he only wanted to represent his home state and play for Coach Tubby Smith. Royce White was a top 20 recruit from Minneapolis and along with Rodney Williams and Justin Cobbs, was part of the highest rated recruiting class in Minnesota Golden Gopher basketball history.
