My Kind Of Shoe: Air Jordan X “Chicago” Returns After 17 Years

Air Jordan X

The Air Jordan X “Chicago” drops tonight at midnight, and is no question a coveted sneaker simply because it hasn’t been around in a while. Until tonight, it hadn’t been released in 17 years, and OG pairs fetch a pretty significant premium on the secondary market. Simply put, a lot of Jordan aficionados have been waiting a long time to get a fresh version of Chicagos. Read More »

We Reminisce: Portland Nearly Making History Against Dallas In The 2003 NBA Playoffs

Zach Rand

I never called Nick Van Exel shy. Too many jumpers early in shot clocks proved he had no conscience. I never called him timid either. Too many arguments with Del Harris proved that. I also never called him faint-hearted. He had enough street cred to get name-dropped in a song by Jigga. I figured he had a little Cypress Hill in him when he shoved Ron Garretson into the scorer’s table. And busting out “the monkey” midgame, against the Jazz no less (I doubt anyone on that team had even heard of “the monkey”), should’ve been all the evidence needed to sum it up: Van Exel had himself some big ol’ Sam Cassell-sized balls. Breaking News: Scottie Pippen Is Really Scotty Pippen

Scottie Pippen

In the January issue of Esquire, Scottie Pippen is interviewed as part of their “Meaning of Life Issue.” For the first time, Esquire highlights the indispensable supporting players who are often really so much more interesting than the leading guys. The magazine gathered 15 of the greatest co-stars, and let them tell their side of the story. Let’s just say you can learn a lot about Scottie Pippen. Actually, that’s not even how you really spell his name. Read More »

NBA Players Revolt Against Michael Jordan; Could Epic Dream Team Practice Footage Exist?

Scottie Pippen

Were we the only ones to criticize Michael Jordan in light of the recent reports that the Bobcats’ owner might be trying to draw too hard of a line against the players? Not even close. Players now seem to be taking their frustrations to Twitter in regards to this whole MJ/BRI thing. Washington Wizards guard Nick Young tweeted this weekend that he is never going to wear Jordan sneakers again, referencing what he saw and heard in relation to Jordan’s actions at the lastest negotiation meeting. But Young wasn’t the only one to voice anger over Jordan actions. Golden State Warriors rookie Klay Thompson tweeted: U think 1996 MJ would pull this? Straight hypocrite bro… Indiana Pacers guard Paul George then chimed in, responding to Thompson’s tweet: Man straight hypocrite bro…He should have been the first one behind us smh. Read More »

The Top 10 Playoff Plays From The 1990s Chicago Bulls

I’m not really sure what the basis of this video was because, look, if you put together a top 10 Chicago Bulls playoff plays, and the list doesn’t include MJ‘s Last Shot or his switch-in-the-air layup against the Lakers, then someone screwed up. Either way, it’s a dope video and I’m just glad they threw in Pippen‘s dunk that ended Washington’s season in 1997.

Scottie Pippen’s Top 10 Dunks

So much classic going on here: Patrick Ewing getting a piece of Scottie Pippen to start and end the list, Travis Best losing his mind in the ’98 playoffs and deciding to get stamped on a poster, and even Red Kerr‘s broadcast call on No. 5 (seriously, is that one of the top five calls you’ve ever heard?).

MJ vs. MJ: Past and Present

Michael Jordan

One of the more prominently promoted features of the new NBA 2K12 is the ability to play with great teams from NBA history. Ostensibly, this would allow one to discover who the greatest squad ever was, albeit in a virtual and fictional setting. Is it Jordan and the 72-win Bulls? Bird and the ’86 Celtics? The Kobe-Shaq Lakers? The Duncan-Robinson Spurs? Make it a head-to-head contest, and you can find your answer. Read More »

Scottie Pippen Still Thinks LeBron Could Become The Best Ever

LeBron James

There’s nothing that lights up a room of hoopheads quite like saying someone is better than Michael Jordan. That sentiment is typically met with a three-step response. First, the listener will be in shock. “What? Are you $%^&*@ serious!!” Next will come the denials and name calling. “Scottie Pippen is an idiot! He’s jealous of MJ!!” And finally, it’ll be amusement. People will start laughing at the foolishness. Back in May, immediately following LeBron James‘ destruction of Chicago in the Eastern Conference Finals, Scottie Pippen did the unthinkable and said LeBron could one day develop into a better all-around player than the greatest ever. Former Bulls Great Calls Out Carlos Boozer; Kobe Bryant’s Super Knee Injection

Carlos Boozer, Dime #35

Horace Grant had some words for Carlos Boozer and his former team, the Chicago Bulls, recently. Here’s a small dose: “Boozer needs to be, for a lack of a better phrase, Scottie Pippen to a Michael Jordan.” Rose, in this case, is taking the place of Michael Jordan. Grant went on to say that Boozer needs to become more assertive and accept his role as the number two or three scorer on the team. He also said that Boozer needs to be more physical as well as a more dominant rebounder, that he needs to help out Joakim Noah and become more aggressive on the boards. Who doesn’t agree with him? Look, Boozer is an undersized four. He’s not one of those guys who can fly down the lane, catch a bounce pass and dunk on someone like Amar’e Stoudemire. What he can do is score from the low block, and hit the 15-18 footer. Read More »

NBA 2K12 Demo

The elite of the basketball and hip-hop communities gathered last night to celebrate the launch of one of the most highly anticipated video game releases in years: NBA 2K12. The 2K franchise has crushed all competition and so did its launch party, which took place at “Good Units” in the basement of the Hudson Hotel on West 58th street.

With 13 championships between them, Scottie Pippen and Robert Horry went at it on one of the many video screens set up around the event. The young guns were in attendance as well. Read More »
