Reynolds Rap: Jersey Numbers, Sweating The iPad 2 & Behind The Scenes With The Chicago Bulls

Reynolds Rap: Dime's NBA D-League Diary With Scottie Reynolds

After an illustrious four-year career at Villanova, Scottie Reynolds didn’t go down the typical path of a consensus First Team All-American. Finishing his tenure at ’Nova second all-time in scoring and leading the Wildcats to a Final Four appearance in ’09, Scottie went undrafted in 2010. After a brief stint with Prima Veroli in Italy, he set his sights back on America, specifically the Springfield Armor of the D-League, in hopes of getting the opportunity to play at the next level. As one of the perennial figures of Villanova Basketball and a current standout in the D-League, we decided there was no one better to turn to for an inside scoop on life in the NBA’s minor league. In his latest entry, Scottie talks about his favorite jersey numbers, the iPad 2 and a trip he took with Ed Pinckney. Read More »

After an illustrious four-year career at Villanova, Scottie Reynolds didn’t go down the typical path of a consensus First Team All-American. Finishing his tenure at ’Nova second all-time in scoring and leading the Wildcats to a Final Four appearance in ’09 – highlighted by an unforgettable mad-dash game-winner over one-seeded Pittsburgh – Scottie went undrafted in 2010. After a brief stint with Prima Veroli in Italy, he set his sights back on America in hopes of getting the opportunity to play at the next level. Taken 13th overall in the NBA D-League Draft by the Tulsa 66ers, he was then traded to the Springfield Armor. As one of the perennial figures of Villanova Basketball and a current standout in the D-League, we decided there was no one better to turn to for an inside scoop on life in the NBA’s minor league. Dime Q&A: Everything You Need To Know About Dante Cunningham

The other night in Portland’s win over Golden State, second-year Blazers forward Dante Cunningham had a breakthrough game. So on a team constantly struggling with injuries, the best thing Cunningham can do is bright it when he’s given the chance. Recently, we caught up with him to talk about his sophomore season, life on the road and Scottie Reynolds. Read More »

Eric Gordon makes his case for a Dunk Contest spot

Eric Gordon

Second quarter, 7:40 on the clock, Spurs at Clippers. Staples Center. Eric Gordon must have been pissed off he didn’t make our list of Top 25 dunkers on the planet, or he’s tired of those who saw him rain threes at the FIBA World Championship pigeon-holing him as strictly a shooter. You know what it feels like when a grenade goes off? We don’t. But we’re assuming that’s what the rim felt. The Clips’ announcers were in the middle of an exchange with the sideline reporter when Gordon (23 pts, 11 asts) elevated and dunked on S.A. rookie James Anderson, causing play-by-play man Ralph Lawler to scream “OH ME, OH MY!” mid-sentence. “I’m sorry,” Lawler said after catching his breath. “I couldn’t contain that.” … Read More »

Shots Fired in Toronto; Hedo bashes Raptors for Bosh

Hedo Turkoglu (photo. National Post)

When Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo decided, even if he was trying to be as diplomatic as possible, to put Chris Bosh on blast following CB1′s departure in free agency, he forgot something: There are more than a couple NBA players who have been there, done that in Toronto and didn’t enjoy their experience. While Bosh politely defended himself without trashing his former franchise, Hedo Turkoglu took another route: “People have to realize something is wrong with that organization and nobody wants to go there any more,” Hedo told Fox Sports Arizona. “It’s not just the players who see this.” Read More »

Ali, Boom-maye! The Biggest Upset of 2010; D-Wade and Q-Rich go Chicago style in front of Jordan

Northern Iowa's Ali Farokhmanesh

If nothing else, Northern Iowa needs to keep this run going so we can see how many more times Greg Gumbel butchers the name Ali Farokhmaneh. One of the 14 variations he had yesterday was pronouncing the kid’s first name “Aloof” … In case you missed it, Farokhmanesh is becoming the breakout star of the NCAA Tournament. After dropping the game-winning three against UNLV in the first round, the 6-foot senior delivered the dagger yesterday as the Panthers took out overall No. 1 seed Kansas. Northern Iowa was up by one with 40 seconds left when they broke KU’s full-court press and got it ahead to Farokhmanesh. Read More »

NCAA Tournament Players To Watch: South Region

Purdue's E'twaun Moore

Earlier this morning we gave you four Players to Watch in the Midwest region. Here are four more from the South…

*** *** ***

E’TWAUN MOORE, Purdue, SG, Jr. The Boilermakers don’t need to look hard for motivation. Pretty much everybody wrote them off when star forward Robbie Hummel went down with a season-ending knee injury in late-February, and the remaining stragglers signed Purdue’s death certificate after Minnesota ran through them in the Big Ten tournament. If anybody is going to cover for Hummel’s absence, it’s Moore (16.6 ppg). Read More »

5 Things to Watch for during the Big East Tournament

Lance Stephenson at Cincinnati

It’s Championship Week in college basketball, otherwise known as the week of tournaments before THE Tournament. And honestly, it seems this year people only really care about two conference tourneys: the Big East and the Big 12 … and maybe the ACC based on history and hype.

Yesterday I previewed the Pac-10 as a tune-up, but now it’s onto the real heavyweights. First up: the Big East. Read More »
