Working at Dime Magazine, a ton of headlines, news and opinions pass through our website each week. Everyday a new story breaks and we change our focus to the next game on the schedule. Before this week gets started, I’ll take the time to reflect on what the NBA taught me last week. Read More »

I know what you’re thinking. Just another nickname after the Big Shaquistion arrived in Cleveland? Wrong. In addition to being LeBron’s muscle on the court, Shaq is trying to be a good, concerned citizen off of it. According to The Plain Dealer, the 7-1 center has applied to become a special deputy with the right to carry a gun and make arrests. Read More »

While it’s been speculated for weeks, a source in Cleveland is saying that the Cavs have finally signed Leon Powe. One of my favorite Celtics (if not the favorite) for the past couple years, if Powe can recover from the torn ACL in his left knee, he could be the X-factor Cleveland was looking to add this summer. Maybe it’s just a lack of good summer programming and the end of NBA League Pass until the start of next season, but I’m extremely excited for Shaq’s new show. And if you happen to be in Ambridge, Pennsylvania tomorrow night, you can catch a glimpse of Shaq battling it out on the football field with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for free. Welcome to the 50th issue of Dime Magazine -the culmination of eight years of blood, sweat and tears. We started this magazine because there was nothing out there for us. We had a simple desire for an intelligent, well-written basketball magazine that spoke to us as basketball players. That type of outlet just didn’t exist, so we made our own.
Now here we are, almost a decade later, still producing what we think is the best basketball magazine on the planet. It didn’t matter what the haters said at the start (there were many, and yes, we remember them all), and it doesn’t matter now that the economy is a mess and that the publishing industry is in shambles – we are in it to win it over the long haul.

ABC must have read my post on the Top 5 NBA Players Who Need A Reality Show because on August 18, Shaq’s newest reality show, “Shaq Vs.” will premier at 9:00 PM EST. The show will feature Shaq going heads up against other professional athletes in their respective sports – many of whom he recruited on Twitter. Read More »

If there’s any truth to the rumor that LeBron and Chris Bosh are dead-set on playing together past 2010 in Cleveland, then they’d have a tough time trading for Gerald Wallace’s four years and $40 million remaining.
Plus, having just dished out $50 million to a guy who can only set screens and rebound, it might not be the best decision to go after a guy like Crash, who prides himself on those same intangibles.
