Patience Pays Off For N.C. State’s Richard Howell

Richard Howell

Losing sucks. It is just that simple. Nobody puts on a jersey, laces up their shoes and checks into the game because they want to lose. It doesn’t happen, and while losing is something nobody likes, it is even harder to take for somebody who is used to winning. For North Carolina State senior forward Richard Howell, that pretty much summed up his first two years in Raleigh. Read More »

North Carolina vs. NC State: Tobacco Road’s Hottest Rivalry

No college basketball rivalry can touch Duke vs. North Carolina, but with the defending national champion Blue Devils a notch above the ACC right now, there is a less talked-about Tobacco Road rivalry that should be wildly entertaining, fiercely competitive, and could grow to approach that Duke/UNC bitterness in due time:

That would be North Carolina vs. NC State. Read More »

The Secret To NC State’s Future Success

If you’re a fan of the ACC, you better watch out for NC State. When I was in Atlanta a couple weeks ago, I got up with incoming freshman Ryan Harrow who said that people should be scared of the Wolfpack. While people already know about C.J. Leslie, Harrow said that the other freshman that is going to make Sidney Lowe‘s squad one of the best in the country is Lorenzo Brown. Check out this mix of Brown getting it done for Hargrave Military Academy this past season. As Hoopmixtape says, “Simply put, he makes the game look easy.”

Stephen Curry, Warriors ready to rise; Celtics add another scorer

Stephen Curry

Between Stephen Jackson‘s trade request, Anthony Randolph‘s summer league breakout, and C.J. Watson‘s incredibly over-covered free agent situation (all this for a guy who’s like two steps above the minimum salary?), we’ve been talking about the Warriors a lot this offseason. Things have been such a mess in the Bay lately that it’s been assumed Golden State will stink again, but in reality, they could be better than you think. Monta Ellis will be healthy from Day One, everyone in the organization is convinced Randolph is about to blow up, Andris Biedrins will get his nightly double-double, and Kelenna Azubuike is one of the better sneaky-good players in the NBA.
