Video: Watch Team USA Take The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Team USA

Before Mike Krzyzewski took the #ALSIceBucketChallenge with the help of his grandkids, Coach K called-out members of Team USA to do the same. Just a few days later, Steph Curry and five of his teammates have already taken Krzyzewski up on his offer. Read More »

Watch An Epic Compilation Of The Sickest Crossovers From Last Season

Isaiah Thomas

Isaiah Thomas (photo. NBA YouTube)

The basketball public measures the quality of a crossover mostly by the reaction of the defender. If he reaches and misses – good. If he loses balance – better. If he falls entirely – best. But that’s not always the best way to judge the merit of juke dribble. Context always matters in basketball, and the defender’s quality, size, and position is overlooked far too often in assessing crossovers. If Ty Lawson shakes Al Jefferson to the floor in an isolation at the top of the key, that doesn’t mean Lawson’s cross is any better than a similar one done by Stephen Curry that barely fools Ricky Rubio. But it sure does seem that way, and rightfully so; not even a poster dunk asserts a player’s dominance over an opponent like an ankle-breaking crossover. Read More »

Stephen Curry Hurts His Ankle Again; The Lakers Await Superman

Stephen Curry

There are already inklings from management, trickling out of Bay Area reports, that Steph Curry‘s rolled right ankle Friday night is not as serious as it looks. But don’t let out that breath all the way, Warriors fans, because if he can get his ankle rolled at a standstill by someone stepping on it, this could happen all the time. Read More »

The Leader Of The Free World Is A Kyrie Irving Fan; Steve Novak Makes Everything He Takes

Kyrie Irving

Here’s how we picture it: President Obama is in the Situation Room in July, hanging out by himself in a quiet moment. Instead of using all the ridiculous technology for politics, he uses his downtime to call up Kyrie Irving‘s equally ridiculous first-day highlights from the Team USA scrimmage in Las Vegas. Just the ROY on repeat, doing that full-court sprint past James Harden, Kobe and Kevin Durant. Read More »

Minnesota Gets An Early Christmas Gift; Joakim Noah Learns Post Moves From Kareem

Ricky Rubio

The signs have been promising, but you never want to get your hopes up after ligament tears in a knee. Still, we’d seen Ricky Rubio‘s road to recovery and then him shooting a little (Minnesota die-hards will cling to anything that projects hope with Rubio, and that late-night show’s skit qualifies). To complete the hope triangle, let’s add in a third reason to believe Read More »

Jay-Z Is Big Behind The Scenes With The Nets; Steph Curry Is Nearly Full Strength

Jay-Z

Did you know how small Jay-Z‘s ownership of the Brooklyn Nets is? It’s got to be decent, you’d think, what with his face on billboards around Manhattan, being at the shovel ceremony for the Barclays Center and having about four of his other business interests tied into the team’s new arena. Actually, it’s tiny: one-fifteenth of one percent, reported The New York Times today. But if teams want to lure in a big fish celebrity to co-own a pro team (even if they’re not spending relatively much — Mr. Carter put down $1 million) you can be sure they’ll watch this other Brooklyn blueprint. Can Monta Ellis Work Out In Golden State?

Monta Ellis

Earlier this month, we talked about an almost inevitable trade with Monta Ellis and the Golden State Warriors. With seemingly nothing going right in the bay this season, it looked as if the relationship between Ellis and the Warriors front office was deteriorating quickly. But, with consecutive wins over Portland and Dallas (granted without Shawn Marion), things in Northern Cali are looking a little less gloomy. Read More »
