TAG: Tim Tebow
By Patrick Cassidy

Just … wow. Whether you think Paul Pierce‘s Tim Tebow‘ing of the Atlanta Hawks at center court in their home gym was hilarious or disprectful (it’s probably a mix of both), the bottom line is that the Hawks need to man up.

Seriously this guy is unreal. Only Kobe Bryant could’ve pulled off something like this. Miss 15 in a row… the most he’s missed in a row in a game EVER, and still find a way to get it done. Zero points through three quarters, and then when it comes down to it, down two with under 30 seconds to go, Bryant pulls up and cans a triple to win the game. After New Orleans couldn’t get a shot to fall, someone crowned Bryant’s night (3-for-21 shooting, 11 points) as the ultimate Tim Tebow night. It’s true: screw up all game, play like complete garbage all night… and then when it’s absolutely necessary, you make the game-winning play. Unreal … Read More »

Just put Dwight on the line, right? That was Mark Jackson’s strategy on Thursday against Orlando and it seemed good for a while against the career 59 percent free-throw shooter. The Magic didn’t lead through the first quarter after going wire-to-wire against Portland in its own building the night before. Well, Howard’s not exactly Mark Price from the stripe but if you send a guy there an NBA-record 39 times (he made 21), he’s going to get his, anyway, and score with a stopped clock to help a comeback, too. That’s how Orlando held off Golden State, 117-109. Read More »

“He’s incredible. The Broncos gave him NO shot! They don’t believe in him. John Fox and John Elway are secretly hoping he screws up so they can point their noses up at fans and say ‘I told you so!’ Tim Tebow has the clutch gene. This kid is special.”
Forgive me for getting my Skip Tebow on for just a second but I had to vent. Tim Tebow may not be a great player in the historical sense of the word – we don’t even really need to argue whether he can pass well enough to make it longterm or if he’s simply a fad. Tebow has become the story of the NFL season because he’s done the incredible. He turned a weak Denver team in a probable playoff and division-winning group that has so much confidence trailing in the fourth quarter that teams should probably start thinking about letting them take leads. Yeah, that guy we all saw last year wearing No. 6 for Miami in the NBA Finals? That guy wasn’t LeBron James. He was someone else, an impostor, a fake, a poser. LeBron says the real LeBron is back. Should we believe him? James says for the first time since he got to Miami, he’s back to the real him. More alive and ready to go. That’s good to know; We aren’t sure how anyone could deal with the amount of venom he had to take in last year. But still, the whispers about clutch failures, disappointments and lack of heart will only grow louder with each misstep. It’s a full-on disease for him now, and the only way to cure it is to win a championship and do it in a fashion that’ll have people forget about James’ past playoff struggles. Read More »

If Duke played all of their games out in Maui, they might end up as the greatest college team ever. Yesterday they added to their all-time perfect record (14-0) there and clinched a spot in the championship game, beating Michigan 82-75. Living and dying by the three is the way of the college game now, and however unpredictable it might be, Duke is the best at it. It came through for them again. Michigan needed a perfect night of basketball, but they certainly didn’t get it during the first half. Tim Hardaway Jr., for all the praise we’ve been giving him, was terrible for most of the night. The Devils shut him out in the first half and built up a double-digit lead that withstood any comebacks the Wolverines countered with in the second frame. Read More »

We all might be angry… at the very least, extremely frustrated. It’s gotten so annoying that even Bill Clinton showed up, showing the players support and handing out his book, “Back To Work.” But some folks around the league are voicing a different opinion. They’re calling it “sad.” No, the efforts of guys like Steve Blake didn’t come through in the clutch yesterday. The players rejected the owners’ latest offer (apparently no one wanted the deal) with Derek Fisher simply saying it’s not good enough, even though it might just be the best offer they get from here on out. But before you start submitting yourself to ugly Eastern Illinois vs. Indiana State games – either that or drinking away your sorrows – the two sides did leave some hope for today. Read More »

Whether it’s in a desperate come-from-behind win or a devastating blowout loss, Tebow-mania has officially swept over the nation. Perhaps no athlete with such miniscule professional experience has ever been as celebrated as much as the Mile High Messiah. Certainly not in basketball. J.J. Redick enjoyed some time as college’s nice guy as well as being a top player in the early-to-mid 2000s. Unfortunately for Redick, most fans weren’t too fond of him as Duke became equally as hated as the Miami Heat. Read More »

LeBron James just can’t win can he? People get so offended over a couple of tweets that it’s almost kinda sad. We can’t even tell you the number of people who hit us up after this “story” broke. Plus, like 90 percent of them were ready to crucify LeBron. He was probably messing around about Steve Nash and Jamal Crawford. But one way or another, the Heat will almost assuredly improve their depth at some point over the next year or so. If Nash were to come ring chasing in Miami, would you care? Ring chasers get no love from the public, but if that happened, we could see people twisting the story to let Nash slip by without criticism … Read More »

Skip Bayless is the Ghostface Killah of haters. He has longevity. He has classics. He has a huge platform and a brand behind him. He hates on anything that walks or talks. And we laugh at him because he is straight-up comedy and no one takes what he says too seriously.
Last week, we debated on haters and who had it worse: Kobe back in the day or LeBron now. Amazingly, both sides mentioned the ultimate hater, Mr. Bayless. Then this morning, Skip and Stephen A. Smith nearly topped themselves with a long-winded assault on LeBron James’ spot as the best player in the game. It got so bad I think I heard the word egregious at least 15 times. Read More »
