Timofey Mozgov 29-Rebound, 23-Point Career Night

Andrew Bogut, Timofey Mozgov

“To be Mozgov’d” might need to change meanings. The oft-maligned former Knicks center, Timofey Mozgov, had a career night during Denver’s surprising 100-99 win over the Dubs on Thursday, putting up a stat line, 23 points and 29 rebounds, that looks earth-shattering compared to his season averages. Watch Timofey Mozgov “Mozgov” Josh Smith

Timofey Mozgov, Josh Smith

There was a time before Blake Griffin unleashed a dunk on him that, “threw down their spears, / And watered heaven with their tears,*” when Timofey Mozgov was simply a doofy Russian 7-footer playing center in the NBA. But since that fateful day, he’s become synonymous with poster jams (Brandon Knight knows his pain). Last night, with Detroit visiting Denver, Mozgov turned the tables and let Josh Smith know the verb of his last name works both ways. Read More »

The NBA’s 30 Biggest Unsung Heroes

Andray Blatche

Behind every great team, the superstars and the dynasties, are the guys that the average fans don’t know about. Regardless of the amount of talent at the top of the roster, coaches are forced to look for production from role players on a nightly basis. While the average fan may not realize these players exist, their impact, while consistently failing to show up in the box scores, is not disregarded by teammates or coaches. Read More »

Raptors’ Rudy Gay Gets Snuffed During Attempted “Mozgov”

Timofey Mozgov, Rudy Gay

The Denver Nuggets got the 112-98 win during Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. game in Toronto when Timofey Mozgov dominated the Raptors on their home floor with a double-double: 16 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. He even smothered a Rudy Gay attempt to “Mozgov” him with a slam. Read More »

Suns’ Markieff Morris “Mozgov’s” Timofey Mozgov On PutBack Slam

Markieff Morris, Timofey Mozgov

Timofey Mozgov is not just a proper noun, he’s a verb too after Blake Griffin introduced himself to the former Knick in Blake’s ROY season. Since that time, Mozgov has stuck around the NBA, most recently in Denver. But Markieff Morris did his best to continue the embarrassment for the 7-foot Russian on a putback slam in last night’s Suns victory. Read More »

The NBA’s Top 10 Facial Dunks Of All Time

Vince Carter

What makes NBA games so special and electrifying are the epic in-game dunks. Of course, we love the flashy passing and heart wrenching buzzer-beaters, but to be capsulated in a moment where someone gets posterized is beyond blissful. Let’s start by saying shout out to Brandon Knight as he valiantly didn’t give up on the play last night when he could have. He could have dodged DeAndre Jordan and let Lob City get away with another alley-oop. He didn’t. It’s okay. Read More »

Rajon Rondo Stamps A Triple-Double On Philly; Lakers Bring Out Secret Weapons For Game 7

Rajon Rondo

As long as Rajon Rondo doesn’t have to shoot with the game on the line, he’s good money. We’ve constantly heard that the Celtics’ point guard is the John Nash – the genius – of the NBA. Maybe he just really is that smart. The dude fouls the Sixers up three, and then watches as Lou Williams botches it by making both instead of missing the second. Then, Doc draws up a spectacular play and Rondo runs into the backcourt all alone for a touchdown. Evan Turner couldn’t catch him for a foul, and that was that. Rondo bamboozled Philly’s whole team; Game 1 to Boston, 92-91. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 2.3

Stephen Curry

Beast of the Night: Stephen Curry owned the Jazz last night, finishing with 29 points, five boards, 12 assists, three steals and a pair of threes. He shot 71 percent (10-14) from the floor, 88 percent (7-8) from the free-throw line and had three turnovers. This was a nice bounce-back game for Curry, who had just 18 points on 7-of-23 shooting in his previous two games. For the season, he’s averaging top 10 numbers, which is right in line with expectations. Now let’s hope his ankles stay intact. Read More »

Derrick Rose Takes A Bite Out Of The Big Apple; Timofey Mozgov Gets Revenge

Derrick Rose

There’s no grander stage than Madison Square Garden, and Derrick Rose shined like stars should in NYC as Chicago bounced the Knicks, 105-102. The basics first: 32 points, 13 assists. What left you gasping: a blow-by Toney Douglas dunk in the third, a deke of Tyson Chandler at the rim a little later. The capper, however, was a layup where he avoided Chandler, Amar’e Stoudemire and Jared Jeffries driving through the lane while playing hide-and-seek with the ball around his head. Read More »
